Massive saving on Crocs sandals compared to 'Sentan' Plaza Crocs and Sports shops. 200 baht a pair - men's, ladies and kids in various colours. (No free socks for current temperatures). Going through Nong Sim Park towards Global at the clothes and shoe markets on the left just over the railway crossing. I asked the vendor how much and she said 250 baht. As she walked away an old Thai lady said to me not 250, only 200, so I bought a pair and said 200 baht which she accepted after trying to have me over.

I've known several people who have tried to grow beef steak tomatoes in Udon.....all failed. And until today I've never seen beef steak tomatoes on sale in Udon. But Makro had them today......I can't speak for the flavor, but if you're looking for big tomatoes, Makro. About as big as a Fuji/Chinese apple.

Might be worth buying some, at that price, for seeds.

Depends if they are grown locally. If from Europe the seeds will not be resistant to local diseases.
If you want big tomatoes for seeds buy them from the Royal Project shop in Central Plaza.
They are grown locally & organically.
I know people who have bought tomatoes from there for seeds with great results.

Sounds good, TY. I did buy a few of the ones from Macro and I'm going to do a couple of them stuffed and baked and save the seeds. We will see how they grow in monsoon season.

We picked up a half dozen these tomatoes about a week ago. Although not as full flavored as "back home" tomatoes we have thoroughly enjoyed eating them. They have been a very satisfying departure from what we typically find at the markets. They are ripe throughout, juicy and tasty. I polished off a couple of BLTs for lunch that were the best I've eaten in ages. If Makro continues to stock them, we will continue to purchase them. Thanks for the "heads up" parrot. :-D

They are the best tasting big tomatoes I have found here too. I am a bit of a tomato snob, having eaten "Jersey" tomatoes for years. The best tasting I have had here are home grown "Grape" tomatoes with lots of pig poo for fertilizer. I will try some of the seeds from Central though.

More of a heads' up than a deal.

Tops have a new (to me) range of Indian products in, Geeta's - a rival to Patak's I guess.
I have bought a Tandoori Spice Mix - add yoghurt, lemon juice & chicken for Tandoori chicken - & Lime & Chilli Chutney.
I have not tried the Tandoori yet, but will report back when I do.
The chutney is very good indeed, although not for the faint hearted!!

I see that they have a web site.

Tesco Lotus Extra (old Tesco Lotus)......just off the Nong Khai road.

Walkers Belgian Chocolate Chunk Biscuits, net weight 150g,from Aberlour on Speyside.....that's in Scotland, readers !
Reduced from 128 baht to 64 baht......sell by date 2-7-2016

Incidentally,I don't know if posters know that sometimes this Tesco's has a discount of 10% off your bill.
For instance(as an example),lets say your bill comes to 1,000 baht...
They might have a promotion for each 700 baht spent you get 10% off...i.e.70 baht.
The checkout girl should tell you when you reach 700 baht, which you pay for,and she gives you a voucher for 70 baht.
The rest of the bill outstanding is 300 baht and when you come to pay you give her the 70 baht voucher back,so in fact you only pay 230 baht.
Maybe posters know this ? They, quite often, dont promote it.If the checkout girl speaks English she should tell you but if you get a non English speaking one the odds are you wont be told.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
