Badmiton for kids

Post by Barney » May 19, 2015, 5:55 pm

Have been looking for a sport to keep an 8 year old active and today my girl started a trial at a badminton club.
She hits the shuttlecock at home and I cant keep it up in the heat.
Not sure of the location or name as I am not in Udon now, but she is happy to go. I can find out exactly where later.
1 week 4 days I think building up to 2 hours a session 100bht a training.
1 month 16 days = 1600 bht
I suppose the number of lessons can be tailored a bit.
There are a few other kids there so hope they can form friendships.

Hi Socksy,
I remember we spoke about the golf for kids, well got the kids club set but it fell over after a short period , the guy teaching her wasn't totally involved. But once I get more time golf's another avenue to keep going.
On our nightly face time camera last night she was really happy to tell me about it and had fun. It was 300 bht joining fee and she got 2 club t-shirts ( the orange in the photos). These are proper lessons and hope to progress to a completion if she is OK. There were kids younger then her 8 years.
Not just hitting the shuttle with lots of running and exercise, she got a real sweat up. I want her to be active.
2 hour training 5 to 7pm.

Thanks Barney. Junior Socksy still likes to go to the Golf driving range but has not had lesson's yet - only some tuition from me, aka McIlroy at the range. I'm sure she would enjoy the Badminton. She will be 7 at the end of the month.

On Udon's West side they teach football. During the summer break it was for 2 hours weekdays and they charged 30 baht each day.

Now that school has started they do 2 hours on saturday and sundays (1,200 baht per month?). I haven't gone to these yet, but it sounds like they have setup teams. I plan to check it out this saturday, for my wife's descriptions are never too accurate.

Anyways, when I went to the weekday sessions, they had about 20 students both boys and a few girls, my son was maybe the youngest at 6½

As socksy said Grievous not sure mate. I wont be back till the end of the month. I'll get my missus to ring yours or vica verca and if your in town maybe you can post location exactly.
It's not far behind your place and near their school.

Thanks Barney and Papaguido - I'll look into it and enquire if she can go maybe only two days a week over a longer period as the two hours coaching, travelling time, plus homework and 'scran' may be a bit late.
