I am sorry if your internet is not up to scratch, but it was discussed initially by using the Royal Train, however due to the large crowds expected and to allow more time for Lying in State, flying back was considered the best option by the Lord Chamberlain.

Plus this which surfaced today ..https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/s ... 86ba701ef6.
Thanks for that KP. What a damn shame. I think the royal train would have been easier to manage than the hordes that are already descending on London. Who are they scared of for God's sake. I hear that one rowdy "protester" was arrested for being all shouty on the cortege drive-by in Edinburgh. Probably drunk but charged with public disorder anyway. Maybe those silly buggers at Extinction Rebellion were planning gluing themselves to something on the train tracks heading south? Hello? Police? Do your jobs! Looks like a few local forces and authorities don't have a scooby about their jobs. But, if the palace and indeed the Queen herself didn't like the idea when she was alive, it is what it is.

That is a good point , however being ex-plod I can tell you those that wish to disrupt will and as the TRAIN journey has to go along a laid down track then unless you post a Police Officer at each and every place where it can be disrupted than the possibilities are endless. it is not a case of doing your job, my question would be where ?

With so many apparently dis-enfranchised groups looking to make a point and have their 15 minutes of FAME , the interventions and siruption could be multiple places all at once bringing the train to a halt, not a good scenario.

Any way she is now at Buck House awaiting her journey to Westminster Hall by Gun Carriage this Wednesday.

If you insist. I am happy to wait and see what unfolds, not interested in splitting hairs. Thistlethwaite has three years to plan a path, expect announcements along the way as Oz moves gently, gently towards a Republic.

US President Joe Biden is set to 'take over' the Queen's funeral as he will reportedly bring 400 secret service officers to the service next week.
400! That's a little over the top. Why doesn't he take the bus like everyone else?
It's about the late Queen, Charles III and the British people, not the US President.
Liz Truss should lay down the law:
The bus (we can arrange a seat next to the Finnish PM).
2 bodyguards.
No helicopter, no limo.
If you can't meet these conditions, maybe it's best you don't come.
Watch the movie "London Has Fallen".

Former PM Julia Gillard also reckons the dream of the Aussie republic is closer to fruition now jug ears is in the big seat.

Best PM you ever had IMHO.

Maybe it's indicative of their faith in the UK security services? You know, their proudly historical friend and strong trans-Atlantic ally and all that tosh?

400 Secret Service agents! Can you imagine what damage they can do in the clubs in the West End.

Good luck with that. As even the supermarkets are closed on the day of the funeral, not likely the clubs will open.

Pubs will open, but the funeral on TV will be compulsory......

It is an assault on Britain's sovereignty in the same way as LBJ's visit to Australia was in October 1966. A disgrace, an insult to Britain and the Queen. The British Home Secretary and the PM are not doing their job

Yeah, you deserve to be warm.
Dont think what month it is has anything to do with it. I remember a speedway match I was at, being "snowed off" in June and that was in London not Scotland.

He might well bring them but only one or two will be allowed inside the Abbey no matter what they say !!
They can swap stupid stories with the 4000 odd British and Commonwealth troops outside while the service is going on . There they will outnumbered, outgunned and certainly irrelevant to the general proceedings .
