GREAT GREAT ACTOR RIP

Poitier was granted a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II in 1974.[8][9] In 1995, Poitier received the Kennedy Center Honor. In 2009, Poitier was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civilian honor.[10] In 2016, he was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship for outstanding lifetime achievement in film.[9] In 1999, Poitier was ranked 22nd among the male actors on the "100 Years...100 Stars" list by the American Film Institute. Poitier was also the recipient of a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album.[11] In 1982, he received the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award and in 2000, he received the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.[12][13] In 2002, Poitier was chosen to receive an Academy Honorary Award, in recognition of his "remarkable accomplishments as an artist and as a human being."

"They call me Mr. Tibbs."

Well said Sidney, but it is a great pity that many people still do not get it.

He and Rod Steiger should have won Oscars for 'In the Heat in the Night'. Poitier was excellent in 'Blackboard Jungle' and 'The Defiant Ones'. I don't remember 'Lilies in the Fields' very well the movie for which he won the Academy Award.

'Lilies in the Fields'
Matthew 6:28-29
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Don't watch it if you hate faith and spirituality.
