Who?

Post by tamada » August 25, 2021, 8:32 am

Gaia Servadio, writer, literary saloniste and first mother-in-law of Boris Johnson – obituary

She was courted by Gianni Agnelli, wrote books about the Mafia and Renaissance women, but did not approve of her daughter Allegra's fiancé

“The English – well, some of them are awful fools,” she mused of the upper-class milieu in which she found herself, “but some are articulate and well-read.”

RIP you most brilliant observer.

As the article says, the best and brightest Jockinese leave the rather shallow gene pool of the Trossachs and seek fame and fortune in foreign places. That's why Udon is blessed with several exceptionally fine examples of Scots-born intelligence and wit that do their best not to show the nice but dim English up too much at Dean's Flat Earthers Club meets.

I think that jab's gone and addled whatever used to be in that space between your ears.
