Ray was also representative of the kind of decent, helpful and informative members that UM used to have in its early days.
As did the ex-pat community of Udonthani in general, JimboPSM ; in those, sadly now long gone, days when we were a close knit, integrated community. :(
Like many of the 'old timers', who seem lately to have been leaving us at an alarming rate, Ray is irreplaceable.
RIP Ray, and condolences to his family.

I haven't been on this site in quite a few years and only look at it once or twice a year. I knew Ray and spent many an hour visiting with him. I used to bring him Tortillas from Texas when I came over. My wife and his were good friends while living in Thailand. The last time I visited him was at his fish farm.

I remember the help he was when we moved to Udon and his help one night when he took me to AEK in the back of his pickup. He also helped with the first purchase of a bike and not the scooter.

In other words, this was a man who was very helpful and did so graciously.

Ride on Brother, you will be missed.

Very sorry to hear we have lost Ray, he was a great guy. With this loss I also feel we are losing some of what Thailand meant to me.

The passing of this good man is sad news. From his posts I do believe that he left his family well provided for. He will be greatly missed.

RIP Bumper

I am aware from another thread that Ray was divorced from his Thai wife, so I wonder if his Will will have been adjusted to reflect that.

They were not divorced, it was just a rumor. Though there were rocky times in the past they were dedicated to one-another.

Hardly a rumour, bumper(Ray) on his own topic about loan sharks clearly referred to his" Ex" wife many times, including one where he asked advice from a lawyer as to his involvment in her debt now he is divorced . :-s

Without wishing to make waves as Ray has passed, - Yes, indeed, the thread about loan sharks is littered with references to ex wife and at least one mention of divorced.
My ex wife borrowed 80K from one.
Maybe even though you might be divorced now

Yes. When he heard the rumor Ray thought the it might be helpful in reducing the pressure to pay up, so he went with it.

I am done discussing this.

Does anyone know what ever happened to Ray Fisher? He is a retired officer of the law from America.

Ready died several years ago at home. He wasn't feeling well for a week or so, checked in/out of a hospital, and passed away in his sleep at home, as I recall

Missed that topic when he passed, working in the remote outback, I went on many rides with Ray from a 125 scooter, with his Biker buddies, one of them would always stay behind and lead the way, as I would only sit on 80 K, when we stopped for a break, Ray would give directions to the next place, and would I leave 15 minutes earlier, they catch up to me and old Ray would drop off to ride at my speed, Best ride we had was to the French Thai steakhouse up near Sakon Nakohn.

Ray help in developing the Phantom 200, with the chrome fruit basket at front, larger battery box, spot lights water tank, extended fuel tank, and we built the Udon Map trailer for my work with EWB ( engineers without borders), much help from Ray, with his local knowledge of trades the big bike shop and spray painters. 20,000k later and 13 years after the build, still have the Honda and trailer, a pic of one of Rays mates at a night out in NK, never got a pic of Ray though.

RIP Ray in the great big bike shop in the sky, passed away to young.
