How much for my girlfriend to get COVID-19 test?

My girlfriend who works for the municipality said it will cost her 5000 baht for a test.
I thought it would be free or am I wrong
Has your girlfriend been tested and if so where and what did it cost please
I’m in UK so reason for asking

AFAIK the 5000 baht quoted is the median going rate for a walk-in test at a government hospital. Whether they will do it is questionable since the government's mandate is to reserve tests for medical staff and patients. The only guaranteed way of getting the test is when exhibiting the symptoms. This test will be free of charge.

With referece too Jo public walk in Covid tests are not available at the moment .. as Tam states unless you are showing symtoms and or a health worker .. got a hypocondriac relation that is whinging about getting tested and been turned away twice already.. sort who goes to the hospital if she breaks a nail WOS .

Without showing any symtoms and going to a hospital to be tested and risk being infected whilst there smacks as just plain daft and at 5k a waste of money unless you intend to go n get checked regularly / weekly monthly etc until the crisis eases.

I think Bangkok Hospital were offering private tests, I think I might have posted the ad on here somewhere but there are so many Covid threads now I'm not sure where.

Surely if it's for work purposes the Government would pay, without any symptoms why would you waste money getting tested, for locals there are many insurances. Available at low cost and as she works for the government is entitled to the 20 baht a visit

While I sympathise with your predicament Vidmaster, as stated unless showing symptoms why waste the money. If it is for a job then the Employer should pay if that is a requirement .
I know many people who have been in the hospital recently and trust me they are on the ball, if they suspect they test.

I dont really see the point of getting tested if you feel ok , normal , ok and arent showing any symtoms of the onset of C19.
