Knee problems ?

Post by RLTrader » February 23, 2020, 3:55 pm

Have a knee problem? Seems right knee on inside is not right. When compared to left, there is a difference. Some pain at times. Figure will go to doctor maybe tomorrow, then again maybe not. Strange red dots on leg, rash?

So, any ideas? Anyone have anything similar?

I know this is the year, but would like to make it to the end.

Potential causes of non-itchy red spots on the skin
Birthmarks: Birthmarks are colored spots on our skin that are present at birth or appear shortly after it. Sometimes these blemishes are red. In this case, they are usually a vascular birthmark. Abnormal blood vessels in the skin cause these types of birthmarks.

Acne: Acne is a widespread skin condition that ranges from mild to severe. It usually appears as skin bumps that often become red or swollen.

Angiomas: Angiomas are skin growths that can occur anywhere on the body. They are caused by blood vessels that have clumped together and appear as red domed bumps, also known as papules, on or beneath the skin.

Keratosis pilaris: Keratosis pilaris is a harmless skin condition that occurs from the overproduction of the protein keratin. It causes small, hard bumps around hair follicles, especially on the thighs, buttocks and upper arms.

Boils: A boil is a skin infection of the hair follicle or oil gland. It is usually a firm red bump, often filled with pus. Boils usually go away after they burst open and the pus or liquid has drained.

Allergic reaction: One of the most common reasons for red skin spots is rashes that occur from allergic reactions. The reaction could be to food, pollen or other allergens in the air, cosmetics, skincare products, laundry detergent, or a whole host of other irritants. A doctor can perform a patch test to reveal which allergens trigger a reaction on your skin.

Heat rash: Heat rash is a result of sweat trapped in clogged pores and appears as red bumps that may or may not feel tingly or itchy. This type of rash is a common condition in hot, humid weather and usually goes away once the skin temperature has cooled.

Many things you left out:

Age?
Overwhight?
Exercise?
Have you had this problem before?
..and more..Could be a strained meniskus/flaptear..does it lockup?
You have to think what you have done that might trigger you kneeproblem...lastly..see a Doctor..x-ray/CT scan maybe.

Goodluck.

Hi RLTrader,
Request an X-ray of knee prior to seeing specialist orthopaedic surgeon. Prior to the appointment spend 5/10 minutes walking up and down stairs, make a mental note of when the pain intensifies and advise specialist. If there has not been a specific incident that has caused the pain, without knowing your personal details the pain should increase in descending stairs.
In December, 2019 l had a knee replacement after initially tearing the meniscus both interior and exterior some years earlier followed by surgical intervention of sinvisc which was to be a short term remedy. Arthritis ran rampant in my knee and descending stairs at my work caused extreme pain, not so bad ascending stairs and flat surface walking had little impact. On the advice of the specialist and had knee replacement surgery, 5 days in hospital, 6 weeks of physiotherapist and lots of walking, back playing golf and swimming without adverse reaction.
Subject to your specialist’s advice on managing the issue, knee replacement for me has been very successful, however the extended level of pain post surgery is far worse than a hip replacement.
Good luck with resolving the existing pain.
TT

Not sure what age has to do with it, but lets say older than dirt.

Overwhight?
Hmm, maybe under weight
Exercise?
Hmm, depends what you mean, once had a boss who paid big bucks to exercise at a jim, and refused my offer to cut my 5 acre with a push mower for free.
Have you had this problem before?
No

No no lockup, without a duckduckgo on meniskus/flaptear have no idea.

thanks

I should add that I have restarted taken my miracle drug "Dolomite" which helped with the slight pain, twice a day and it seems to help. Don't have a problem walking or going up or down stairs. Although avoid doing so at Complex, at my age just too much Exercise, even before problem.

Right side of knee seems to have swelled, ligaments? Feels like a bone out of place. But really no pain unless I push on it. Oh well
Thanks

Tell me what you can expect from a aging body/knee....wear and tear maybe, that's why i asked how old you are.

Exercise..are you running alot as an exercise...or just cutting grass..*sarcasm*

You really don't know if your weight is either on the low/lean side or on the not-to lean side..or maybe just trying to be funny/sarcastic...Anyway my friend, goodluck to get healthy.

I had 10 surgerys on my right leg under 3 years time...running alot when i did Trialthon (once was enough)and boxing. So i think i know what i'm talking about, just saying..

Never believed in exercise, figured activity around house was enough, golf, tennis, etc ...

No, always been under weight or just right, and maybe a little more under weight (lb or 2) now.

Well if I go will expect they might want to do an xray, but hoping they have seen before. Don't expect anything serious. Think the accompany rash or whatever it is, is more of a worry, sign of something else?

I do know that most of my tendons are shot. That's why I moved here from a house off the 9th hole in MB many years ago. I don't do hospitals except for visits or out-patient visits, so gave up golf, or anything else that required use of arms, not worth 3 days of pain after maybe 9 holes.

thanks for the input

To explain the knee problem better.
If you sit down and place your left & right hand on your knees, and then move your thumbs around, you will feel something like a bone. Now my right "one" is noticeably sticks out, its like a bump. Guess I should increase the amount of "Dolomite" I am taken for it seems to work, fingers crossed.

Sinovial fluid leak or 'water on the knee'. Keep the weight off it and take non-steroidal anti-inflammatories.

Calcific tendonitis? What does your medic recommend for removal?

As long as no pain and does not get bigger, nothing, other wise surgery. Didn't ask, but by internet, more of an outpatient surgery. Cut & grind, I think.
