Post by Hoopoe » August 11, 2019, 8:24 am

Hy Guys , just a queary , anyone know of the eye surgery laser etc ,my' eye sight has gotten worse over the last few years ,i've read a lot of info on the subject , but these days it's always difficult as to what info is true and what is nonsense , yes there are varying conditions and no it doesn't suit all, i met some guys in India who had it done for various reasons ,various conditions ,all swore it was the best thing they'd ever decided to do ,
So has anyone had any experience with this , also is there anywhere in the Udon area or is it just BKK

My ophthalmic surgeon in the U.K. didn’t recommend laser correction after the age of 50. He said it was an unnecessary expense for something that would only last up to 3 years maximum before the eye changed shape further meaning the patient would need spectacles again.

Wife had correctional lazer treatment done at Ram Hospital KK about 10 years ago. Couldn't fault their service from initial tests right through to after treatment checkups ........ only drawback was the 250km round trip almost every day for 2 weeks, but the results made that worth while

Just about any vision problems, except cataracts and glaucoma, can be corrected by a good optometrist and glasses. I firmly believe any type of Surgery, be it laser or knife, should only be done when required.

Something called presbyopia where the natural lens loses flexibility. You either have to have further laser treatment which can only be done a certain number of times or wear glasses.

Hoopoe, mrs statts was still young at the time. There was a complete spectrum of ages having various treatments at the time. Often saw the same people in for check ups each day. Ranged from school kids to pensioners.

Statto thanx for web site. Just had a look through it. It states it's permanent (maybe a little short sightedness. Not Alway's) I will investigate further

A new technique is currently being recommended in Australia,
My friend who is severely short sighted, and over 50, just had lenses inserted into her eyes in the same manner as they do cataracts.
She is thrilled with the resulted.
Her specialist said that once laser surgery is done it impedes help when you get cataracts,.
This technique can be repeated many times and is not as expensive as laser.
Also, simple, fast procedure.
Might pay to check it out first.
Sounds better than someone permanently changing the shape of the eye.

I am considering it myself, although I've been wearing my glasses all my life, so they are no big deal for me.
