“Self-driving vehicles present a number of opportunities for the UK from providing safer, greener and more reliable transport services to creating tens of thousands of well-paid and skilled jobs across the nation,”
Think it may have been an idea for the reporter to ask her to explain that one?
Tens of thousands of "skilled" people watching robot production lines churning out vehicles?
Tens of thousands of bus/taxi drivers and driving instructors losing their jobs more like

No doubt a lot of grannies said the same thing about knitting machines back in their daze.

Is it possible Self driving / Driverless vehicles here in Udon would make the roads safer as driver error , drugs n alcohol fueled or not must be the major cause .. and would the technology within the vehicles need to have special soft ware included here.. ?? .. like a warning that theres a somtam grilled chicken vendor close by or a poorly lit buffalo roaming the roads at dusk....over to you KP

And they were dead right about mobile phones DM, they will, and have confuddled peoples minds, you just have to look at how many voted for Bojo to see that

Think of the vehicle proximity warnings the AI would get at every traffic light in Udon...... all those Motorbikes which can move through 360 degrees when the lights change. I think walking might be faster!

How does it know if it is "safe" to turn left through a red light?
Re: Autonomous vehicles join regular traffic in Cambridge in UK first
The question I ponder is , if these so called driverless vehicles have a system in place to avoid accidents or move out of the way if a car/m/cyc gets to close, what happens if you move gently sideways to a driverless vehicle going down a dual carriageway , what will that vehicle do, brake, move over , which could be problematical if this driverless vehicle in in the centre lane . If that then same driverless vehicle had an accident due to other vehicles being ion close proximity , who would be at fault, as most vehicles with a driver would avoid the other vehicle safely with zero impacts`. The vision of seeing a vehicle computer in a court room having to answer questions makes me smile a sort of Orwellian experience and un-believable but folks it is getting nearer to the truth than any of us realise .

Most of us realize it. Only the coffin-dodging fossils can't.
