Post by annoynimous » May 20, 2021, 11:30 pm

Hi guys,

I am looking for a particular place in Nong Khai and I only have the address in Thai language and my own wits to figure out on Google maps.

Are there any locals from the Sang Khom district that is able to assist me?

Thank you

thank you kindly sir

below is after using OCR to read the image:

หมู่ที่ 1 ต.นางิว อ.สังคม จ.หนองคาย

what I got in google maps:

I'm actually looking for a farmer's residence in Sang Khom, I only know their family name and address. I'm hoping to ask some locals nearby that may know them, but I need to get the right location first...

I have found Google Maps more or less completely unreliable for addresses in Thai. Parrot knows his Thai. If anyone here can help you, it is he.

If I were looking for the address.....driving.....here's what I'd do:
Load in the gps for the school in that village:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/2MBqwDyoKgHH5mFj7

That school should be in the same village as the people you are looking for (Moo 1 หมู่ 1). Google maps should get you to the school.....or very close to the school (I'm going to bet it takes you to the school). If you're in the area and can't locate the school, show this to a villager โรงเรียนบ้านนางิ้ว
it's the name of the school......they should be able to point you in the direction.

When you get to the school, go into the office and look for the person who speaks some English.......there will be someone who can speak English.....probably one of the younger teachers, probably female. Show him/her the name you're looking for. Moo 1 is a small village, so chances are good that someone will know who you're looking for and can help.

If the school is closed, go to the nearest mom/pop store to the school and ask there.

Good luck. Have a good time.

If you want a superior app, try downloading WAZE, a step up on Google maps
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani
