This looks like it's got some miles in it...

So, what did your agent say?

(and why are you shouting?)

How is anyone on here supposed to know what your insurance policy states?

Maybe Fred was told by his agent that his insurance doesn't cover for virus treatment as was wondering if other members insurance does?

Or

As I said, this should have some miles in it.

I'm insured with Tick, and because the WHO declared Covid a worldwide pandemic, I cannot claim on their insurance even though I left the country before the declaration ;(

Standard Insurance rules

1) You will be covered for anything you require up until you pay the premium
2) You will be covered for everything up until the time you need to make a claim
3) There will be a "get out clause" in every policy that avoids the company needing to pay out any claims

Just look at how profitable insurance companies are ........... they didnt get there by paying money back to people who make claims

I asked the question via email
of my travel insurance company in Australia 5 weeks ago. Finally receivers some good news.
Question
“Am I covered under my current policy number ..... for covid 19 while I am out of Australia”.

Answer after 5 weeks

If your Insurance policy was purchased before the 23rd of January 2020 has the provision to claim under the following benefits:

Overseas Medical Expenses Benefit - if due the Coronavirus you incur medical expenses while you're on your Journey overseas you may submit a claim under this benefit. Please note, this policy does not cover for any medical costs incurred in Australia.

Amendment or Cancellation Benefit - there is provision for you to claim under this benefit if your prepaid travel arrangements have been directly impacted by the Coronavirus (i.e. Your transport provider cancelled your flights). However, please note that under this benefit that we do not pay for claims caused by the disinclination of you or change of plans as stated on the Product Disclosure Statement (i.e. you decide to cancel your trip).

Additional Expenses Benefit - if you contract the Coronavirus while you are overseas and get Quarantined there is provision for you to claim under "Additional Expenses Benefit: If you become sick 3.1) for reasonable additional accommodation expenses as stated on the Product Disclosure Statement.
- if you do not get sick but quarantined overseas a precaution for you, there is provision for you to submit a claim under "Additional Expenses Benefit: pther circumstances 3.5) for reasonable additional accommodation expenses as stated on the Product Disclosure Statement.

There is a differentiation between a specific trip travel policy and an annual one. A specific trip one, if purchased before the outbreak of CV-19 should pick up any issues. An annual one will almost certainly carry restrictions or be adapted at renewal.
