Thai Smile miss flight?

Post by choi choi » January 17, 2020, 5:19 pm

Just booked flight back from BKK.But in haste,
Not really left enough time between my main flight! One hour and 40 minutes.
Contacting customer service the want a fee to change flight time.
If I chance it, and miss flight, Do they charge a fee, or need buy new ticket?
Anyone had that issue?

If you miss a flight then you buy a new ticket - suggest change present ticket, only about 500 Baht from what I remember
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

Good day. One way to avoid this type of situation is to select pay at 7-11 for instance. You get a several (sometime 12 )h our ) delay for payment, so if you made a mistake, you do not pay within the prescribed time. After the delay has expired you rebook the correct flight. Last year a friend tried to change his flight from Udon to Dmk , on Air Asia, they wanted something like 1000 THB, on the same day the one way Udon to DMK , on Air Asia , was about 750 thb. Go figure.
Good luck.

Pay the fee as the others say, Morti, and take the hit.

Although Thai Smile has all the appearances of a low-cost carrier, there can be some flexibility on ticketing changes based on what type of ticket you bought. The cheapest ones may be unchangeable, the more expensive ones will charge a re-booking fee whereas the full-fare ones may waive all that.

I have been caught out once when we got stuck in traffic and I tried to rebook the tribe onto a later flight at short notice. I recall that I couldn't change the booking within 2-hours of the original ticketed flight time and cancelling it had the same effect: you snooze, you lose. I ended up having to buy 3 new tickets to get the kids back home.

My advice with Thai Smile is to book for the worst case scenario when it comes to flight connections. Some flights to Udon typically depend on the inbound aircraft coming from Haadyai and delays "due to late arrival of the incoming aircraft" on that sector are frequent. This has a knock-on effect with anyone catching the return flight from UTH to BKK and connecting with an international flight.

Tribe?

As in - children?

Yours?

Well that just about changes everything, Tam.

Anyway, I fly into BKK at 1600 hours on Thai Airways and I have enough time to pick up the 19.20 to UTH.

I wonder what time Morti is flying in? I hope he's not on some dodgy Arab airline.

Tribe, troupe, brood, clan... chose your own collective here.

The 19:20 will invariably suffer from "due to the late arrival of the incoming aircraft" syndrome. It's just such a sadness that beyond an overpriced can of Heineken from Burger K i n g or an even more overpriced pint of Guinness at Bill Bentley's, extended layovers airside at Suvarnabumi are pretty grim... unless one likes to 'window shop' at Boots of course.

Or you could buy the more expensive ticket if you know you have a few hours to kill, and sit in comfort within the Thai air lounge. Does me when I have the last flight up to Udon.

I see.

You should be out of Immigration around lunchtime then. Take a bimble to DMK and catch a cheap afternoon flight up to Udonsville.

Morti , if your flight in is on time and they are quick with your bags , i think you should make your Thai smile flight .
As your over 70 you can use the VIP section at immigration . Failing that if its busy use the Thai desks which are fairly quick now as they have the machines for Thai passports , but still keep a couple of desks open for residents without Thai passports . I sailed through in five minutes a few weeks ago , no problems and the normal immigration was heaving .

Is that 10% on top of the regular seniors discount? I've been getting the latter ever since I noticed the option on their regular booking website.
