Parking at Udon Thani Airport
Re: Parking at Udon Thani Airport
Last night was told at my meeting that the Airport will begin charging for parking , prices from 20 BbAHT TOI 250 BAHT , the 250is for 24hrs.
It was decided to do that as nearly 300 cars are parked there for 24hrs or more each day , mainly because of people from the surrounding districts and Laos.
So unless you really have to , using a taxi or a friend would be far more advantageous and probably cheaper.
The reply about security was met with the following reply, CCTV cameras etc are /will be installed, the big question, is anybody watching them will be interesting.
I twill not take long for would be car thefts of or from to be on the increase as Long term parking will be easily identified.

Re: Parking at Udon Thani Airport
I stand to be corrected, but whilst the theft of motorbikes seems common, to my knowledge theft from or of cars is rare. (Except, of course, the mysterious disappearance of quality cars held in custom warehouses. ) Long may that remain the case. Or am I wrong?Khun Paul wrote:It will not take long for would be car thefts of or from to be on the increase as Long term parking will be easily identified.

Re: Parking at Udon Thani Airport
Still don't know why people need to park at the airport long term, there are a few reasons perhaps like going to BKK for a couple of days. But this can be accommodated in a separate long term car park.
Know idea why people on a flight by flight basis would park for any more than an hour.
I am one of those that just call when I am off the plane and my teerak just comes and pulls up out front in the drop off pick up area, gone in 5 minutes. I callto tell her if the plane is late or on time from BKK.
Don't need a welcoming or send off entourage anymore. Joop joop at the car and gone. I know, no need to tell me, I am a romantic.

Where can you find this separate long term car park...Please!!
Re: Parking at Udon Thani Airport
According to an Udon facebook page, fee-based parking will begin on 14 Jan on a trial basis. As with all things new, I'd expect some initial hiccups.

Re: Parking at Udon Thani Airport
Landed 14jan around 17h to pick up my car far away on the grassland.
Walked through the new paying part, a paying booth at exit "manned" by a lady.
We sometimes get away for 3 to 7 days, 7x200 = 1400 for one week parking, think that is too much for 7 days, might do for 3 nights.
We live 50 kms from airport, don't know any other solution than leave my car at the airport.

There is a fairly new business on the newest bit of the ring road - not far away from the Tana Home's turn off. Undercover car park & mini bus to the airport.
I have no idea of the pricing, nor have I used it. Just seen it passing by..

If you are thinking of the place opposite the PEA building, that closed a while back. They charged 100 Baht/day but was not well used. Maybe it was bit ahead of its time.
Re: Parking at Udon Thani Airport
Yes rreddin that was the place. Thanks for the 'closed' information.
As you say, maybe just a bit ahead of its' time.

I would guess that it means that the driver only has the ability to speak a very limited amount of English.vidmaster wrote:What does limited eng mean?
