Personally if only domestic travel, I just use my Thai Driving License. Never had any issues with it. Try not to use my UK passport so as preserve the glorious Crowned Lion and Majestic Unicorn holding up the symbol of the Crown embossing on the front cover that represents the nation who by default (and despite what a few re@a!d@ believe) brought law, order, democracy and civilisation to what we know as the Western World in pristine condition. Kidding aside, never needed anything more than driving license for domestic travel needs and even the cops accept as adequate rather than a passport.

I reckon I've been stopped at traffic stops well over 100 times....mostly in Udon, but Chiangmai, Phuket, Pattaya, Samui, Trang, NKP, Nongkai,Loei among other places, since 1996. I always ask "is there a problem?" then ask if they want to see my license. I hand over my license.......and for the past 10 or so years, my pink ID card as well. With very rare exception, I find the police at these stops very courteous.
Well over 100 times does that mean you've been here so long u now drive like one lol

i have my thai id on my yellow house book (tabien baan ) , i could use this long time before they even had the pink card , and i do not consider richard barrow a reliable source of information ...., as of the inoculations concerned , i will wait for last ,see what the live test results will reveal ? , and be able to have more options as the sino or astra rubbish .... ;)

I certinly won't be cueing up for a pink card anytime soon. As others have mentioned the pink card is only in Thai and doesn't match either your passport or plane ticket. Since 2014, I have made between 50 and 60 domestic flights per year, all with my driver's licence. What is required is government issued photo ID and the Thai DL provides that in both English and Thai. Although I do carry my passport in my computer bag, I have never once been asked to produce it - in an airport or on the road.
ps, upon seeing that I have held my Thai drivers licence since 2008, on a few occasions I have had Thai policemen salute me when returning the DL.

My friend in Chiang Rai swears that the Pink ID card is the way to go, better for you he states, cheaper admissions, etc and for the vaccine better.
Like many others on here, I have a yellow book, never needed anything else , refuse to go to places where the admission price for farang is exorbitant. Never been asked for it . No legal requirement to have one and does not link to anything I currently have, be that Passport, D/L or Yellow Book, just another piece of administration dreamed up to make Foreigners feel better. .Plus already registered for vaccine without it !!

Totally agree , i use mine a lot , and it does get you into attractions at the Thai price , In fact i used it last month at a national park in Pretchabun which saved me around 200 baht . If i didnt have it would i of not paid the tourist price and not visited after traveling there . I dont think so ! Arrogance and ego can be very expensive !!!!

Applying for pink card today, I was asked for my blood group. Couldn't remember it, but they issued the card anyway.

Without presuming to answer for Tom, he has possibly followed my suggestion, and applied at the Ban Dung Amphur office.

Documents required were (if the same as me):

- yellow book
- passport
- TBH100 note

Having my wife there may have also assisted, as there was a lot of chatter which was too fast for me to comprehend. :D

We took:- my passport, my yellow house book, our marriage certificate, wife's blue house book, and photocopies thereof, my wife having been advised at preliminary visit that these were the requirements, at Ban Dung Amphur. Oh - and 100 Baht.

Don’t think so, I stand to be corrected but everyone I know with an ID got it after (or during) the yellow book application.
The ID number is the same as the yellow book which I think is the source data that suggests the book has to exist for the card to be issued
