Will be interesting to see how this pans out.
The top players who have jumped are already mega rich due to prize money and commercial deals. So difficult to see if its just more money available that's driving this.
I like McIlroys statement about the overall quality of the participating players.

The field for the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club has been filled. With K.H. Lee's win at the AT&T Byron Nelson, the final spot in the 2022 PGA Championship field was filled by Joel Dahmen of Clarkston, Washington.

Why do foreigners go to work in Saudi?

Of course it's about more bloody money!

Think only one tournament is in Saudi Tam. The rest are spread all over the world. Its Saudi money that's backing the Tour same as Newcastle United.

Have you seen the format and prize money?

Yes, only one in KSA and two at Trump courses.

Yes, and very attractive it is as well, especially for the lesser players. My point is, why the already super rich players felt the need to jump ship. I suppose its a question is when is enough money, enough. The fact that it is two Trump courses is neither here nor there. One of his courses in Scotland is on the 'Open' rotation, does not matter who owns it. The other is a very good new course up near to where you originated from. I honestly don't think players boycott it because of who owns it.

Perhaps the "super rich" players felt the need for a change.
What annoys me more is that the journos from the papers/news channels constantly have a go at these sports players when they themselves (in many cases) work for companies all or part owned in middle east (Independent/Standard/Twitter)?
Why is it wrong for a golfer to take Saudi money, but perfectly acceptable for businessmen/politicians/govt to take their funds?
It's wrong to play in the Saudi tour, but perfectly ok for them to have a "Race to Dubai" on the European tour?

Nothing wrong with taking Saudi money, Newcastle Utd. do.
My point was that the PGA Tour has been really good for some of these guys, who are now jumping ship for a few bits of silver, it is degrading.
Cannot quite get my head round the Shotgun format type matches they are proposing as well. How many spectators etc are going to pay big bucks for a days golf viewing that will be over in 4-5 hours.

What about all the Brits that jumped ship from the European Tour which was very good to them, just to take the "big bucks" of the PGA Tour?
Can't exactly say the human rights in US are anything to right home about, death penalty still exists/Womens abortion rights/health facilities/paid leave etc etc etc

Indians? They liked the "Big Bang" stuff that helping to bugger up Test cricket? Loads of money there.

OK, so some sports feel the need for "reinvention to stay relevant". No reason why LIV shouldn't milk the gallery, no?

Some sportsmen aren't noted for their scruples or morals...

Sorry, that's totally wrong. Some owners of top flight teams, their tournaments and their agents and sponsors aren't noted for their scruples or morals.

Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed join Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series

The inaugural Saudi-backed tournament starts this week and represents an about-turn by DeChambeau

The Saudi's like sheep a lot. It's cultural.

Now all is forgiven between Saudi and Thailand with the doors opening for employment opportunities I hope some UM members do not discourage any close by relos from going abroad to find the pot of gold.
The need for a little English will now sink home to some younger ones.
Probably a trillion bucks worth of construction coming up in Saudi plus all the services the tag along with that.
