Well the England team have finally put on a show, albeit 3 games to late.
If rain holds off for a decent period we may have a game on our hands. That’s also if Cummins give them a look in at the end of today. Another 150 to our current 2-188 will lead to a good finish tomorrow. But the poms haven’t scored 300 this series and with half the team out of form and the other half injured, it should go 4-0 to the Aussies.

A good 2 sessions to go.
England can’t win and a draw may happen with the help of rain.
But should be 4-0 by end of the day.

England lost 7 overs so were prevented from going for the inevitable win. Unlucky.

Cricket 2021

Post by Barney » January 11, 2022, 9:52 am

As normal I have my unbiased opinion below.

Such is the level of the bar that England have recently set the pom commentators actually tried to turn this exciting draw into a England victory.
But credit where credit is due, they did seem to put the handbags away for a few sessions and as is perhaps what is normal in a London bar these days put their backs to the wall and had a crack. I did like the intimidatory pace Wood bought to the pitch. Well done.
Billings has been bought in from one of the Sydney T20 teams to play a batting role.
Aussies have a difficult choice of which bowlers and batsman to play in Hobart end of this week.
4-0

Good point well made. The BBC radio 'newsflash' commentators were making much of England needing one hundred and something runs from so many overs to force a draw whereas the BT livestream on the telly stated it more simply as Australia needing 3 wickets to win. It's all about how one likes to varnish one's turd I guess.

It would have taken at least another 2 sessions for Broady to score the 118 runs req'd ......... I have no doubt Jimmy would have still been 0 NO

I'm not sure I understand. The Poms didn't need any runs to force a draw - they just needed to avoid losing wickets.

Better get back in quick statts - you're running out of time.

I can’t believe this, I had my first negative thought in this series. Thinking the poms might bat it out and get the runs for a first test match victory in australia in 11 years.
But at 7-111 the poms have now rolled over and taken their normal pillow biting position.
What a shame.

Couple of good semi final games coming up in the U/19 World Cup.
Baby poms have been dominate in their group as have India.
The young Aussies should bring the trophy home though.
Covid has upset all teams lineups throughout so hope all the best of each team is available.
