England struggled past Afghanistan who seemed to think that appealing on every delivery was a good plan. They were over excitable to say the least. India beat the Aussies and will beat England in the final on Saturday night.

To make up for their loss, the Sheilas should win today to retain the Ashes. Whatever the score, Sundays match will live long in the memory.

THE TIMES

The chairman of Yorkshire Lord Patel of Bradford has claimed that a group of individuals associated with the club is trying to derail the reforms he has been putting in place in response to the racism scandal because they believe that the county is being "sacrificed on the altar of Black Lives Matter", and the future of the club remains precarious.

Justin Langer, 1. resigns 2. is pushed 3. is stabbed in the back by the NSW test players who want Trevor Bayliss as coach. Next coach of the poms? Wouldn't be surprised. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-02-05/ ... /100807496

Seems like Langer is more than welcome in Strauss's eyes.

Why would Justin want to go to that cold cold country and coach that rabble. Talent can’t be taught. Even the Brit expat won’t return.
He’s got a few million in the bank after 4 years at about 1.7 a year.

England lads trounced our u19 in the semi but unfortunately with their only loss couldn’t hold back the young Indians in the final .

Finally the 3 England camps can rest and perhaps look forward to silver linings in the future.
Girls couldn’t win a game down under.
2nd ashes gone.

Looks like a real flat track in Pakistan.
Pakistan have batted for 2 days and declared. Hard going for the Aussie pace attack.
Pakistan started with a spinner and assume it was because of light.

57 - 4 lunch

Enough is enough ..... ban all 20/20, 100 balls, one day cricket until we re learn how to play proper cricket.

England currently 284 - 3 ......... at least thats a fairly respectable test innings so far (Root 135 NO)

bugger me, what is it with these clowns??

Just when you think they are batting sensibly Stokes pulls out a reverse bloody sweep for 4 and then goes down the track to launch the next ball into the stands for 6 .... Ita a TEST match not a 20/20

It appears to be difficult to get a result in a test match these days. WI vs England and Aussie vs Pakistan, all 4 matches so far ending in draws on batter friendly pitches.

Good result in the womens world cup for England this morning. Pakistan beat Windies which means, despite losing first 3 games, we should qualify for the semis. Complete waste of time though as Aussies are a class apart from anyone else

The summery from cricinfo ......

5.34pm: England are bowled out for 204 - which West Indies would probably have taken after they won the toss and opted to bowl first. But from 67 for 7 and 114 for 9, England will be delighted with their tailenders' efforts: Leach and Mahmood put on 90 for the 10th wicket to save face and put them back in the game on a pitch that is still offering plenty when the ball is new and hard. According to Mark Butcher on the broadcast, this is only the second time that No. 10 and 11 have top-scored in a Test innings - - the last time was Tom Garrett and Edwin Evans way back in 1885! I'll sign off there - make sure to join us again tomorrow morning to see how West Indies' top order fare against the new ball.
