Gentlemen, we'll be making some changes to this thread this year. It's going to be the "English Premier League 2020/21" thread, not the let's slag each other off, or each other's team. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
It seems I regrettably need to bump this pointer again. I had understood this was a special thread with some extra rules in place to try to promote more adult discussion about the EPL. You seem to be doing all you can OFT to undermine this objective. It surprises me.

EPL please.

Whew. Now we can get back to the news at Everton. And the other EPL teams including Everton's neighbours. Looking forward to it. I'm still here.

Looking at the links posted above, these are exciting times for Everton. Everton look to have acquired some really classy new players. \:D/

If these players are classy like you state above please advise why are their existing teams wanting rid of them

It's all about bang for buck, declining value and clubs cashing in on that declining value beforec contracts expire and someone gets a quality, experienced player with a few years left on the clock for next to bugger all.

Allan: At 29, oldest man in the current Napoli midfield and making way for younger talent already in-house. Stellar performer for Napoli with 328 appearances in Serie A and all European trophy competitions. Brings depth of experience to Everton's defensive midfield and has worked with Ancelotti before.

Rodriguez: Same age as Allan but in that aspect, not alone in the current Real Madrid midfield stable (Modric's still kicking along at 34). Doesn't fit with Zidane's plans (who the **** does?!) so after Liga NOS, Ligue 1, La Liga, and the Bundesliga, the EPL awaits. Over 300 appearances in European league and cup games. Brings depth of experience to Everton's attacking midfield... and he's worked with Ancelotti twice before.

Abdoulaye Doucouré: Younger than the above couple of midfielders and on a definite roll at Watford despite their being relegated with his 17 goals and 12 assists. A bargain if Watford wilts from their current overvaulation. Brings some pace and direction to Everton's central midfield.

One to watch out for is Sigurdsson who was overvalued when Koeman's Toffee's brought him in for an eye-watering 45 million. He had delivered in spades with 61 goals and 46 assists in 282 Premier League appearances but again, he's at that critical 30 years old juncture so who knows if he will get as much playing time if the above trio do arrive at Goodison? Looks like DC United of the MLS are interested and it could be a bit of a win-win if he moved over there.

I think you've had a false start dunroaming. You are out of the blocks too quickly. Let's see how Everton goes this season.

Marcel Brands gives Everton perfect transfer and Carlo Ancelotti era starts now
Allan has joined Everton in a transfer worth around £22m in a three-year-deal from Napoli

You won't be the only one if you sign up for Everton this week

In truth, the rumours had felt a little different.

Everton remained tight-lipped when the subject of Allan was raised and Ancelotti remained an admirer. The sticking point was the price-tag and a notoriously hard negotiator in the form of Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis.

But Marcel Brands has carried it over the line for what must be considered good business.

Is Allan an upgrade on what Everton have now? Yes. With international experience, Champions League appearances and the added caveat of knowing what Ancelotti wants from his midfield system, it looks to be the perfect deal.

^ Let's not dwell on Everton's inevitable resurgence, eh? This is the serious footie thread after all.

I am reading that Klopp has to imminently offload some of the deadwood from his stable. Can those that lay claim to following and knowing all things LFC share their opinion on who will miss the cut and be up for grabs? It's around ten players as far as I can make out.

In general terms, the same is the situation in relation to the other EIGHTEEN TEAMs in the EPL, the existence of which many members seem unaware. Don't be intimidated from mentioning any of them, if you wish :-"
