Yes they did! Came from behind after being down 3-1. I watch as many as I can.

St. Louis has always been a "baseball" town. Very knowledgeable and loyal fans.

My second all time favorite black stripper was from St Louis. Didn't know jack about baseball as a game but you know that old chestnut about being able to suck a golf ball through a garden hose? Well, as you can appreciate, a baseball is a lot bigger...

Meanwhile, the 'stros start their series against the wildcard Rays with a win.

Great B1G Ten Conference game between Nebraska and Northwestern.

Nebraska won with no time left on the clock. Their QB was knocked out, and a walk-on kicker made the winning kick. Enjoy.

In what will go down as one of the most dominant pitching performances in postseason history, Gerrit Cole masterfully struck out batter after batter Saturday night. Fifteen of them in total, as the Houston Astros took complete control of their American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Even though the service academies don't have a big impact on NCAA football, I still enjoy watching them play -- especially against each other.

This past weekend:

Tulane defeated Army 42-33.

Navy defeated my Air Force brothers and sisters 34-25 in a wild one.

I was living and working in St. Louis when Yadi was called up in 2004. He has improved steadily the past 16 years. Went to a lot of games at the old Busch Stadium and watching his defensive and offensive skills was a treat. Several times I've seen him make at "pick-off" at first base throwing from a semi-squat and surprising nearly everyone. He completely shuts down the opponents running game. A future Hall of Famer for sure.

Charlie Morton, 4 Rays homers power Tampa to Game 3 win.

https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/10/08/verla ... stros-rays

“Give me the ball.”

With the equivalent of those words, if not those exactly, but definitely not in Latin, Justin Verlander just turned the American League Division Series between his Astros and Rays into high theatre. Houston starter Zack Greinke was not quite done with flushing away Game 3 at Tropicana Field Monday with just 61 pitches when Verlander approached his manager, A.J. Hinch, in the dugout. ... He has pitched twice on short rest, but both occasions need to be qualified. Once, frenetically, he did so as a reliever in 2017 ALDS Game 4 in Boston. Once he started on two days of rest in 2011 ALDS Game 3 against the Yankees—but that needs an asterisk because Verlander was coming off a 25-pitch, one-inning start cut short by rain.

This would be a good time to remind you that in Game 4 Verlander will be 36 years and 230 days old. Nobody that old has won a postseason start on short rest in a decade, since Andy Pettitte in 2009 World Series Game 6. Pettitte is one of only five pitchers that old to do so in a clincher, joining Jamie Moyer (2001 ALDS), Rick Reuschel (1989 NLCS), Steve Carlton (1983 NLCS) and Eddie Plank (1913 World Series).

The big game will be the Bayou Tigers vs. the Gators. LSU has looked a bit suspect on defence, but their offence has been surprisingly good for the first time in a long time. If the Tigers can win, they should be a tough test for the Crimson Tide. Texas-Oklahoma is usually a good game too, but they (Boomer Sooner) seem to always fail defensively when they reach the playoff round.

Go Tigers!
