Re: World Cup
In fact the final was played between England and New Zealand. But you didn't ask for a fact you asked for an opinion (So In your own options who should have actually won?). My opinion is still that Australia should have won because we usually do (also a fact). Facts are also what are in the scorebook - England won based on the rules and decisions made by the umpires.

Re: World Cup
Australia, isn't that the cricket team who once beat New Zealand on the last ball of a match by bowling ''underarm''? A fact or not.

Yes Jo that is a fact. At the MCG. I was there! I was a young fella. Kiwi supporters throwing VB longnecks about at random kids and women because they were a tad upset. What a day.

Australia should not have won as the FACT is they were thrashed/ annihilated by ENGLAND in the semi final.
Facts are in the semi final Australia 223 all out after 49 overs.
England 226 for only 2 out.
England won by 8 wickets.
That is why they never even reached the final.

Re: World Cup
Pre ashes games.
A couple of strange contests with Australia having 2 teams squaring off. A real green top with the bowlers naturally dominating. Aussies have their team announcement soon dropping 8 to the 17 players required. Strange approach before an Ashes series. The World Cup forced this hand.
The Poms on the other hand have taken on Ireland in a one off test with the later now only needing 181 to take an historic victory. To me another strange approach to the ashes, again bought on by the World Cup.
But the real tests will start soon enough, not sure either team have had the desired lead up.
Crystal ball says 5-0 Aussies over the Poms unless the English weather denies them.

Re: World Cup
I think the Ashes will be a low scoring series.
The two Aussie sides involved in a low scoring game and England all out for 85 then Ireland 38
It would be a brave man who buys tickets for the 4th and 5th days.
