RIP Eric Bristow

Post by goodison » April 6, 2018, 7:31 am

Darts legend Eric Bristow has died at the age of 60 following a heart attack. Not a very active sport, but another taken too early. Condolences to family and friends.

I agree with you Jon.

I met him many times as his father in law was a very good friend of mine.
He used to come to our local Norton Workingmans club with his father in law for a few drinks when he visited him with his wife.

Especially after his wife's mother died from cancer.

He was a genuine guy & I was Secretary of the club at the time.

Everyone wanted to play him at darts but he told me he was on holiday with his wife & did not want to turn it into an exhibition night.

He said he would play anyone at snooker on a given night as he also enjoyed a game.

He kept to his word & I actually beat him.

A great night was had by all.
RIP Eric a genuine guy.

A 30 minute life story about Eric on Sky last night .. great viewing and his off the ockey antics with Jockey Wilson , highlighted just what a nice fella he was , many tributes including all the top darts pros , especially nice words from Phil Taylor.

Also sad to hear Ray Wilkins has passed away .. former player n manager coach at numerous high level football clubs..
