The ultimate irony is that the Commonwealth Bank have stopped their sponsorship of Smith. The same bank that is currently the centre of investigation at a royal commission into banking and finance practises such as selling insurance policies to punters who, because of the terms and conditions of the policy, would never be able to make a legitimate claim. I'd suggest the winner here is Smith.

Never seen So many Aussies crying Crocodile Tears. When asked if he knew who where the idea came from to Tamper with the ball David Warner wouldn't answer and simply walked out of his press conference ignoring further Questions.

The players have the right to appeal the severity of the sanctions imposed on them. They have until next Thursday (I think) to decide whether or not they will appeal. Makes sense to say nothing until that decision has been made.
Should they decide not to appeal they will be unemployed for some time. To generate an income they all have a story to sell and there are enough Murdoch tabloid rags and no morals TV shows like 60 Minutes in Oz who would be prepared to part with big money for an exclusive story.
So if you think about it, the lack of information at the pressers was a no brainer. Who would give away for nothing what could earn them a million fun tickets? :D

On a rather more pleasant note it is lunch in South Africa.

The hosts have accumulated slowly after Markram was out yesterday for 152.
Bavuma is the man in charge of getting them to a large total as he is not out for 61, but running out of partners.

They have reached 400 for 7 but at a bit of a snails pace..

488 all out..
Bavuma not out 95. Although he can blame no one but himself he didn't get a ton. While he scrapped away at a run every every other ball, bowler Keshav Maharaj came in & cracked 45 off 51 at the other end.
Still a tidy score with 3 full days yet to come...

It was not a good evening for Australia in South Africa.
110 for 6 meaning Australia trail South Africa by 378 runs with 4 wickets remaining.

Only Khawaja with 53 showed any sort of fight.
Look like a side that just want to get home & forget all about a very sorry tour..

Bob agree they want to get out of SA. Mentally not there.
But they may have to suffer in the dressing sheds for a bit. Rain is on the way.
England NZ match similar in the fact they are all tired mentally. Seems so long ago since the Poms arrived in Australia and the interest factor by the fans is low as it is the footy season for the last month.

Bob and Barney they are just playing the Dennis and Rod game and getting those odds nice and juicy. At 4 - 60 in the second dig when the odds reach 1000/1 the Marsh boys will put on 400 and we will lead by 120 with two sessions to go. Then the new boy Sayers will do a Bob Willis and rip through the Boers and take 8 - 25. The other two wickets will be du Plessis, handling the ball and de Villiers run out without facing a ball.

Well it has certainly been an improvement Lew.. :D
Lunch - Australia trail South Africa by 287 runs with 3 wickets remaining
Only bad spot was the loss of Cummins for 50. His partner, Paine, is still there on 47 though..
80 odd to avoid the follow on...will they do it, would SA enforce it??
Have to feel after all the bad blood from both sides over the series the sooner it ends the better for all.. :(

Can't just chuck in the towel Bob. Last time we got beat by the Boers on the hoëveld Nelson Mandela was still doing porridge on Robben Island and Barry Richards had just played the last of his 4 tests. The time before that it was Harry The Breaker Morant opening the batting. To much at stake just to lie down and not fight to the last. :D

If Paine has a busted digit then Handscomb should be the keeper.

SA to bat and get 500 in front.
Aussies to smash 501 to win. Long odds I know but cricket is a funny game.
Maybe a SA collapse. =D>

Well the SA innings progressed towards that Barney.
They will start day 4 with 7 wickets in hand & 400 runs infront.
An Australian win from here would certainly be something!!

Lunch in SA & they seem reluctant to get on with it..
They are 202 for 3, so 469 runs ahead but they are hardly racing along. Elgar is not out for 59, but he is scoring off 1 ball in 3 while du Plessis (81) at least has a strike rate of 60.

Lead of 500 ? Tea ? Hard to say...

No declaration?
Du Plessis will allow himself to get a ton on the scoresheet.
Games over and the pain of the next 4 sessions will be long and tedious. But that's test cricket and hope the aussies can bat through for a draw or a miracle win.

New ball coming soon

Well they have passed 500 & du P has passed 100.. but Elgar has suddenly put a spurt on (he is on 78) so maybe he is now the key!! :D
