US Women sweep the 100m hurdles.

http://www.nbcolympics.com/news/first-t ... rack-event
The sweep by the U.S. women marked a significant first in Olympic history.

According to the Olympic historian Bill Mallon, there had been 61 such American track and field 1-2-3’s in prior editions of the modern Games, dating to 1904 (in events such as the 200-meter hurdles, which back then was a thing). The most recent U.S. 1-2-3’s: the 400 and 400 hurdles at the Beijing 2008 Games.

All 61 were in men’s events.

Wednesday night thus made for the first medals sweep for American track and field women.

Yes, I understood it was a TV interview.

I was looking for any mention of the US team complaining about GB Cycling. Nothing. The US Team seemed quite happy with their performance and times. All of the references I found were questions from Australia, France and Germany.

Australian competitor stuck up with a knife and walked to an ATM for $1000 withdrawl.

Seems legit. Bank statements and witnesses

Team USA perhaps flying in a few lawyers to cut a deal with 3 competitors who appear to have falsified their robbery claims. CCTV showing a different story.

Huge Upset.

American freestyle wrestler Helen Maroulis defeated the legend, Japan's Saori Yoshida, who had unsurprisingly not given up a point in her Rio Olympics bid.

American Maroulis takes Gold.

Yeah, they could have been a big squad of losers. 555 I didn't realize that the overall size of a team meant automatic success. :)

Christine Ohuruogu!?!

Still a great achievement and, as a proud Yorkshireman, I feel compelled to point out that we again contributed massively. Sadly it seems the Mancs have bragging rights this time though although, given that the National cycling centre is there, I still think Yorkshires triathletes, heptathletes, divers and boxers win the day!

Congrats to all competitors -- winners and losers alike. These athletes make great sacrifices to compete, and I applaud their desire, their sacrifice and competitiveness.

Special congrats to Thailand, my adopted home, which garnered six medals in 2016. Two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze in Weightlifting and one Silver and one Bronze in Taekwondo.

Concur. The Thai athletes did themselves proud and Thailand is a standout among the ASEAN countries.

Not really s/stirring Statts fact is Justin Gatlin is a two time drug cheat and the American team Goalie showed bad sportsmanship and a few of there Swimmers caused damage and lied about it. So its not a wooden spoon for me just delivering facts. Just there all American.

The real loosers in this Rio 16 are the Brazilians' and their economy

Stadiums that already will be overgrown and empty. never to be used again

Harbour back to its heavily polluted waters.

Well done to the GB side they have taken over in many events that we used to win, cycling, yachting, rowing etc

Massive negative press already,. poorest medal count in 16 years

A lot to do with younger generations spending more time chasing Pokémon , than medals

I'm sure as drug testing continues to improve with the technical levels, we will see a few medals relocated for Rio 16
