Luis Suarez: Liverpool reject Arsenal's £40m bid for striker
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23428419

Am I the only one that is just not buying this??
If Suarez is true to what he says any dissatisfaction he has at Pool is with the British media, not the club. So why would he want to go from the relative media peace of Liverpool to be right in it in London??
Is he actually really the type of player Arsenal actually need??
Sure he is a proven Premiership goal scorer but nothing he has ever done suggests that he is the type of player that Arsene likes to work with - the opposite.
The Gunners' frailties in recent years have been defensive, coupled with a desire to play 'pretty football' even when that is clearly not working.
Luis Suarez solves neither of those problems, except maybe a desire for ugly football sometimes.. :D

Got to agree with that Bob. The same could be said of Wengers other reported target , Rooney. Both brilliant on their day but surely not Arsenal players .Chapman must be turning in his grave at the thought. :-"
Ageing is a privilige denied to many .

Suarez or Rooney would destroy the wage scale that they have worked so hard at Arsenal to keep to - one of the major reasons for the high level exits in recent seasons.
I think that the 'money men' (not Mr. Wenger) at Arsenal are just making some noises to satisfy the fans & have absolutely no intention of pulling the deals off. Or maybe trying to push Pool into a Madrid deal so they can benefit from the then Madrid excesses.
In a football sense Arsenal need to spend 40 million, but not one 1 centre forward..

The same is very much true of Chelsea's supposed interest in Rooney.
That is just the Special One playing games with new boy to the big time, Moyes.
He (Mourinho) is in a win win situation here whatever happens & will just end up with a rival having a very dissatisfied player. I will be astounded if Rooney ends up at Chelsea, but that is not the aim... :D

Liverpool owner John W. Henry has taken to Twitter for his say on the latest Luis Suarez transfer saga twists. His take is: 'What do you think they're smoking over there at Emirates?' :D

I hope if one of the players "takes to Twitter" to express a view about something at the club Mr Henry remembers that it is HE that set the precedent :-" :-"

One for Brian from Sky sports reporters about Carlton Cole

Well, negotiations are ongoing between the club and Cole's representatives. I've been told talks have been very positive but there is a hold up. It is to do with personal terms. However, Cole's camp remain confident a compromise can be reached. Cole is a free agent following his release from West Ham last month and is Palace's No.1 target.

Luis Suarez: Liverpool striker can hold Arsenal talks after £40m bid
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23428419

Will be interesting to see how the discussion goes. i suspect that once wages comes into the equation it will be a short one. Pool say that they will only let him go if a club matches their 50M valuation..
After the way that Pool have stood 100% behind all his non-footballing nonsense personally I would think it will show Suarez up for exactly what he is if he goes to Arsenal. Something which is hard to put into words on a family friendly Forum.
Leaving for a different country & maybe a clean slate start I could understand, this...NO!!
Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich beat Barcelona in friendly
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23444510

Bit meaningless in the scheme of things, especially as Barca are really manager-less at the moment.
It is an indication that Bayern will be a force in Europe again this season though - not that many required that reminder though. :D

I do think the Everton 2 Liverpool 1 address is brilliant though.

Reported to be having a medical at Selhurst yesterday. Born in Croydon. Although Palace have come into loads of money, I hope they're continuing to be sensible on how it's spent.

And what of that Gosling fella? Signs were that personal terms were ok, but fee a problem? Perhaps the Spanish signing was an alternative?

Last I heard Brian the Gosling transfer had stalled over the fee, but it was expected to get back on track later as a "free transfer" ......... I don't think Newcastle are willing to pay Palace to take him .....

Also about Palace today from Sky

Former Arsenal forward Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is in talks over a move to Crystal Palace, the Daily Express reports, while the Eagles are plotting a double swoop for Umaru Bangura and Osman Sow, according to the Daily Mirror.

Papiss Cisse has now agreed to wear the clubs shirt even with the Wonga logo

Funny how his change of mind happened the day that a photo of him Gambling in a casino was published ....... I was under the impression that gambling was just as bad as paying/recieving intrest to a Muslim  :fryingpan:

Oh dear Statto it would appear that although Cisse is now happy with the Newcastle sponsor, God & the Government are not. :D
Vince Cable backs Church plans to 'compete' with Wonga
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23433955
The Business Secretary Vince Cable has backed a plan by the Archbishop of Canterbury to force the online lender Wonga out of business - by competing against it.

The Most Rev Justin Welby told Wonga boss Errol Damelin the Church would do this by expanding credit unions.
However later it appeared that the Church leader had rather shot himself in his own foot. It was revealed that the Church actually already invested in funds that were then loaned to Wonga..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23459932

What price Wonga still being the sponsor of Newcastle at season end.... I must ask Cisse... :D :D

Yes,disappointing Alan (747) but good luck to Everton in their big game against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

MOD note: Would Mr Zidane kindly keep his comments about Everton to the lower leagues thread "Hey mister can I have mi ball back, please". Thank you.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

I don't like to disappoint you Alan, but I think the chances of ever getting a Moderator from Liverpool is low in the extreme. :D

I guess that Zid's post is rather a case of him self-moderating...which rumour has it he does do after being denied access to the internet for any length of time... :D

Evertonians are good for 2 things ...two professions they shine at ,, driving taxis ,,alas now restricted for pakkis and burgalry ,,a common hobby n passtime of most Evertonian ,,,, where as the Liverpudlian prefers the armed robbery or money by menace route ,,,, either way im sure absolutely no buggar will understand them .. LINGUISTICALLY ...

Back on topic ,,, i dont think too much can be taken by any PRE SEASON friendlies ,, in Asia this is just about making a few quid on the side from the unwitting and all to gullible market here ..

mash .....
