And the authorities will be looking for potential trouble-makers. If there's going to be trouble, let's hope it's just a drunken Aussie. He'll be able to state in media interviews "I'm not going to be deported. Sorry to the crews for mucking up their race".

Well I rowed the course not the race of course, but it is a bloody long way and I can tell you it is very very tiring and although my eight did it in a considerablke longer time it was very hard.
So hats off to both teams and may the best one win with hopefully zero stupid incidents by anyone.

Not sure how I made the squad other than the fact that I am a Varsity Blue. It was nice to see the dark blues of Oxford win the races.

On a historical note, the Toronto Argonaut football team began in 1873 as a rowing club, which is why they are also referred to as 'the Scullers' or 'the Boatmen'. The Argos are also known as 'the double blue' as their team colours are dark and light blue from Oxford and Cambridge.

However Oxford has won the event 9 times since the turn of the century. Lets hope this year we can keep the crackpots out of the water and may the best team win, Oxford , naturally. :-"

Boat Race 2016: Cambridge triumph after Oxford's women win

Cambridge claimed their first win in the men's Boat Race since 2012 as they used their power to beat Oxford in the 162nd edition of the race.
Oxford had dominated the race in recent times but Cambridge took an early lead.
They held their rhythm through the tricky conditions on the Thames to triumph by five seconds.
Earlier, Oxford made it four wins in a row in the Women's Boat Race as the Cambridge boat almost sank in the latter stages.
The Dark Blues successfully found the shallower, calmer waters on the Thames and were able to power to a comfortable victory.
In the men's race, Cambridge - coached by 2000 Olympic gold medallist Steve Trapmore - made the most of their height and weight advantage.
"A lot of hard work goes into this - we wanted it more," said Cambridge president Henry Hoffstot, who had been part of the losing Light Blue crews in 2014 and 2015 along with cox Steve Middleton.
"Steve and I went out on the course yesterday," said Middleton. "We knew what the conditions would be like and the guys dealt with it really well."
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Here we go again the annual boat race between the two premier English Uni's, takes place this coming Saturday 24th March, live on BBC 1 from 5.50pm our time .Racing at 11.30, women's and the big one, the men's at 30mins past midnight. Interesting statistic the American in the Cambridge No 4 seat is the tallest man ever to compete in this event , standing at 6ft10"
Although it's over 60 years since I graduated my loyalty is still with the dark blues , so hoping for an Oxford win , but I won't be putting any money on it .
