South African Runner A Katoey??
South African runner Caster Semanya is to undergo extensive gender testing. The 18 year old, apparently unheard of a few weeks back, last night stormed to an easy victory in the Womens 800m World Championships causing more than a few raised eyebrows.
Now as we know here in LOS it is not always easy to spot Katoey's especially after a few sherbets but I have to say this young erm lady would not fool even the drunkest blind man. Everything about her appears masculine from her physical appearance to her manly movements and body language. If it turns out she is female I humbly apologize for doubting her but lets just say I still would not nick her pint
Sorry it's not a better picture Ron

Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
The ASA knew there were doubts about her sexuality but decided to stick their heads in the sand, selected her without doing any tests and have left the IAAF to sort out the mess.
Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
Just read the info on bbc news website, they say doing the gender test is a complex issue,am I missing something here, some visual checks are pretty much conclusive.
And also she? was not prepared to speak after the race, normally done, would there be doubts as to the deepness of the voice?
Very bizarre to say the least.

I certainly wouldn't arm wrestle "Her"
Ageing is a privilige denied to many .

I find the heading and OP on this thread is not appropriate. She may not be genetically perfect, that's not her fault, but to even suggest Kateoy is in very bad taste.

Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
Just watched the latest world news on BBC and they say that the Secretary General of the IAAF has said the results are back and it is clear that she is a woman but not 100%!
The plot thickens.

Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
The Australian press are reporting that she has actually been found to be a true Hermaphrodite but the SAAF are denying this.

Sorry if you found the title distasteful BDN, it was merely a little play with words making it more relative to those with experience in Thailand and note the double question mark. This makes it a question, not a suggestion.

Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
This case is a first and lots of what ifs to go over before a decision is made i imagine. IAAF worried of the political fall out etc...
She has no ovaries or uterus and has internal testies.
No doubt she and her family knew this years ago, no menstration etc
Now she is famous they must have known she will be questioned and tested.
Sadly for her, she hasnt deliberately falaunted the law, but there is no law to allow her to compete as a Hermaphrodite.

Yes thats right...good memory you got Souey.....i like her because Gail looks like an Onion, and i do like Onions in my Kebab.souness wrote: mr monkey, wasnt gail tilsley one of yore hearthrobs ? not surprising you find this bird outstandingly gourgeous :-"
Also Lady Ga-Ga seems to be going down the same route as the South African runner is, so if she has both organs does this mean she can run in the mens races..? (not Ga-Ga as she is a singer, and not a runner)

So is this lady actually a chap or something in between ?
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
No knuckle hair is visible and fairly small hands but can only answer better if had the bottom half of Lady Ga Ga.
Back to BM and Gail T.,better before the chin op or after
And back to Semenya, looks likely that next updates will be in one months time, IAAF taking legal advice as to whether she keeps her Gold medal.

Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
The most politically correct situation for IAAF to adopt will be the following:
Allow her to keep her medals as they were won with no laws exempting her.
Restrospectively pass a new law to disallow dual sexual gender to compete until an independant medical consensus can rule on the dominant gender. This will create a minefield anyway, as a persons sex is normally legally recorded at birth, as in this case.
I can see ammended testing procedures being implemented in the future , at a certain level of competition to rule this out.
Princess Anne was the only person in 1976 who was exempt from a gender test for the olympics.

Re: South African Runner A Katoey??
Got to disagree there Wazza. Her gender had been questioned before the World Championships, by your very own Australian Athletics body I believe. The rules state that any gender verification situation has to be approved and overseen by medical authorities, she did not do this, therefore the medals should be stripped.
While I do feel very sorry for her because of the worldwide attention it's bringing, it is hard to believe that a modern day athlete would be unaware of their physical make up. If she and others were aware of the situation but chose to ignore it and hope for the best then I am afraid that's rather backfired on them.

ahhhhh, wasnt aware of this , it now looks like evasion and sadly the athlete will loose her medals as you have highlighted.
International sports people are aware of the rules as are their administrators and coaches.
Mind you that then puts the recent Ashes tour in jepardy, as the Australians appeared to have been playing like women. therefore the series might need to be replayed again ????
