This is a nice place, it was a year or so ago.
Not one of those tall old hotels, fresh and airy, nice little restaurant up front, tables outside. We sure liked it. English spoken.

DAY INN HOTEL
059/3 Pangkham Rd. Vientiane

Beer Monkey, my man! :D Here is a challenge for you.
Someone told me about this hotel: Riverine Hotel in Vientiane. I could only find one mention for it here:
http://teakdoor.com/vietnam-burma-and-l ... ouses.html
and no contact info was given, just a photo.
Sure hope you or someone can save the day.
I can't find the contact details or a way to book it on on any travel sites.

No contact details yet but found this somewhere, seems you get 20%discount for hotel guest massage..!!
(dated early 2007.)
stayed overnight LV town center over Silvester in to "the Riverine" hotel. Is directly because of the bank promenade. New, very clean and pretty rooms (double rooms with A/C and WC/Warmwater) for 15 US-$ inclusive breakfast. Was however as opening graduation publicized and I knows therefore not like for a long time the price applies.
In the hotel there is still another its own Massage salon in which one as a hotel guest on the massage prices still 20% discount
The note with the graduation prices hung in the middle of still there March 07. We paid for the night inclusive breakfast to also still 15 USD and to know the Guesthouse to likewise recommend. However were the 15 USD for rooms without windows. Also the 20% reduction on Massage gibts still. Nevertheless a price comparison makes sense. Tip for finding: lies in direct proximity to the Orchid Guesthouse. That might be contained in most travel guides. Many greetings

and apparantly its 2 doors down from Orchid Guesthouse @ 33 Fa Ngum Rd.

If all else fails give the orchid a ring on.. Tel: (021) 252 825 and seeingb as its a few doors down the street ask them nicely if they could pop their head out of the door a get the phone number for you...might work you never know.

Thanks for all the info & help guys. :D
When I am in Vientiane, I will go by the Riverine Hotel and check it out and get their details for next time.

BM, yes I checked on a couple of forums. Thanks.

farang, great map, very detailed!

Gary, is your driver on the Lao side of the bridge. What do you think he would charge for say, 4-6 hours of his service, or what would be a reasonable charge? So I can have a idea of what would be a fair price.

lovely new 48 page passport

Post by donthani » April 5, 2008, 10:25 am

after receiving my new 48 page biometric British passport of witch only 41 pages are usable (9.600 bt by post 15 days ) I decided to do a trip to Laos and the Thai embassy just for break plus new visa and restock the booze ,fags with my TW ,crossed the boarder got an English speaking driver in a very nice air con mini bus (300 bt Mr. vandee tel 007 856 20532 1414 ) ,stayed at a nice hotel (1000 bt ) in Vientiane, had a very good French meal on the river front with a few glasses of red wine and a few lao beers , next day got my passport back did a bit of shopping as you do (French bread 10 bt plus some cheap fags ) then headed back to the Thai border did some more shopping in the duty free (4 bottles of whiskey 25 bt each special offer, 4 bottles red French wine 125 bt each ) had a chat with Laos customs officer about the new railway line over the bridge , he seamed to think it would be up and running with in three months looks good, then back to Thailand, a nice break , but with all the transfers and visas my lovely new 48 page passport was now down to 36 pages in one trip , you can now download the Laos visa form from www.bkklaoembassy.com/ saves you a bit of time when crossing ,

Donthai, red wine for TBH125 a bottle.

I am looking forward to a report after you have drunk the first one :drunk:

Sounds like the sort of wine you may have problems getting your friends to drink :D
