Thai Customs getting tough in Nong Khai?

Post by colt1911 » February 5, 2015, 4:01 pm

My wife went over 2 weeks ago with a couple of her girl friends on a shopping trip. She brought me back 2 bottles of Kentucky Bourbon. 1 was carried by a friend. The limit is 1 bottle per person. All bags were x-rayed. All suit cases were opened. She thought Customs agents were looking for drugs. All Thais in her group.

once again, you should not try to exceed what is allowed, admission of guilt is good when you break the law in Thailand, but wont get you a break on a bribe you will have to pay.
you can always ask customs to "not put the handcuffs on too tightly" if you intend to show up at the border with excess bottles.....

you ought to try to buy from someone that imports wine from Laos? let them pay their bribe for you?

a carton of excess cigarettes was 10,000 per person for my friends group

Whenever I see a woman with a Gucci bag in NZ, I ask myself if she is Thai. She's either a Thai with a fake bag or a Chinese woman with the real McCoy.

There are restrictions on the amounts of alcohol and tobacco products; only the following amounts may be transported into Thailand under duty free regulations:

* 250 grams of cigars or smoking tobacco, or 200 cigarettes
* 1 liter of wine or liquor.

in case someone else want to cross with more bottles than allowed. 99% of the people caught are caught because of monkey snitches working in the shops, so just buy on the way to go and come back without visiting the shops... easy to cheap as always, thank you nice Thai people <3

and previously, province #77 was known as "Los Angeles" seriously they had made a thai movie a few years back and that was the title? is it possible to stay in nong-khai and have a lao girl? thats looking like the ideal scenario? or perhaps a half-thai, half-lao girl? or maybe i could just move to laos right?
