In the unlikely event of a return to “a semblance of normality” during 2021, those thinking of planning travel on or around the above holiday dates (especially Songkran) might want to consider booking flights and rooms in advance to ensure that they are available.

A travel insurance policy that includes cancellation cover for any future changes in Coronavirus / Covid-19 restrictions might also be considered to be a wise precaution.

The press release announcing the additions and changes:
BOT Press Release No. 2/2021

Announcement of Special Holiday for Financial Institutions and Specialised Financial Institutions

On 29th December 2020, the Cabinet has announced additional public holidays and substitution for Chulalongkorn day in order to stimulate economy.

The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has considered and deemed appropriate to declare that 12th February 2021 and 24th September 2021 are special public holidays for financial institutions and specialised financial institutions and to defer the substitution for Chulalongkorn Day from 25th October 2021 to 22nd October 2021.

However, the BOT has decided that financial institutions and specialised financial institutions to provide services as usual on the 12th April 2021 and the 27th July 2021 in order not to increase cost to businesses.
