Are you kidding?

Save a few bucks, but maybe a couple of lives taken away. A murdered innocent is equally matched with cost of housing a killer?

That is obscene.

I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

For those who express their anti capital punishment sentiment, I would ask a question, "What would suggest be done with the Wieambilla duo or trio", had they been captured.

My inappropriate sense of humour finds it amusing that there are people here discussing alternative approaches to execution; cost effectiveness, firing squads, et cetera...

It feels like a committee meeting run by celebrated chicken farmer, Heinrich Himmler.

Reverse deportation, ie send them to England.

And give them 10 Pound each. That's a bit to much for my liking :-k

Fortunately, Australia is a civilised country, thereby making your question redundant.

Yes, and with all those processes, the USA still gets it wrong, and innocent people are judicially murdered.

Not hard to imagine how that it magnified in countries without such check and balances. :(

You should not be using "judicially murdered" in the same sentence as you ae contradicting the statement making it difficult to understand

MURDER
kill (someone) unlawfully and with premeditation:

How about this then, although I do not condone or even agree with the following. The Sharia law regarding theft and rape or other horrible offences against property of people may be considered by some ( in fact most Western nations ), at least most do NOT re-offend as they are either incapable of re-offending or they will have lost a part of their physical being .

As humans being on top of the evolutionary tree we are TOO concerned about maintaining a visible acceptable face to the rest of the world, where removing the problem would be not only quickerbut a permanent warning to others contemplating committing offences.

May go against the grain in most people but we spend millions attempting to rehabilitate people who knowing the most that will happen is a long period of incarceration with all their needs taken care of, no matter what they do, have in many cases NO Intention of even attempting to rehabilitate, only put on a show to appease the do-gooders etc`.

Yes I do believe in rehabilitation but also deterrence of which we currently have NONE worth anything only imprisonment and if we look at the ANIMAL kingdom , they leave to die the malformed , incapable young to die, they reject those that break the community rules, who are then left alone to survive knowing that their future is not going to be long.

So why do we , the so-called intelligent Animal in the animal Kingdom, spend MILLIONS keeping alive and in better care than we treat our elderly. Somehow we have got this all wrong.

As he Good Book says an Eye for an Eye, but it also says turn the other cheek , we are too concerned in the turning the other cheek as opposed to retribution

Should the law consider killing a murderer the same way that they killed their victims? That would be too complicated. Bring back the rope. Hanging is a no fail method. Quick and apparently painless.

I think his compassion arises from the time he was a Plod in England, when verballing and fitting up were standard policing practice, and the odd one or two innocents went to the gallows still protesting their innocence.

Your perception of the English Police is so completely wrong that it really does not deserve an answer, however as will ALL Societies mistakes are and have been made but the perception is that it is far higher than it is in reality , due on part to emotional actions regarding some offences the emotions ruled the actions of those entrusted to exercise control over the policing.
We see it more sadly in Countries like the USA Russia, other countries where Policing is politically motivated .
So before you even attempt to categorise me into your warped thinking suggest you get to know me, thankyou

As for compassion that stops at Violent Rap;ists, Kiddy fiddlers, and Vio9lent murders where the sol aim was to deprive ae a person of something. Bugger compassion, string them up or Hang Draw and quarter them a fitting end to those sort of people in my book m
