Read what you linked. Russia has turned off gas supplies TO certain European nations.

Read what I posted. Ukraine has turned off a gas transit pipeline FROM Russia.

which of course begs the question, since Russia invaded Ukraine and the Ukraine vociferously supports an embargo on Russian oil and gas why are they just shutting off those pipelines now?

It's not a problem that can be easily solved overnight, by some of the EU Countries, particularly those that are land locked, facing towards the Black Sea and or on the east side of the Baltic Sea :-k

Hungary's leader Orban, arguably the most pro-Putin of the EU cabal, negotiated a brand new, 12 or 15-year gas deal with the Kremlin last December at preferential low rates. He probably had a better idea than most about what was about to happen.

There's a huge push to rejig southern European, Mediterranean and north African gas supply lines and routes. I bet the consultants that design and build LNG terminals, do pipelines and convert or build LNG tankers are commanding mercenary day rates right now.

The pump station being shuttered is in Luhansk which unlike Donetsk, is still mostly under Ukrainian control. It seems strange that the Ukrainian's are citing access and control as being the reason to turn it off.

Looks like Sky News (UK) has picked up on the story, claiming one-third of Europe's gas has been stopped by this Ukrainian pump station intervention. The gas markets were only minimally affected with prices reportedly being higher two days ago when there was only the pre-existing Russian gas supply reductions.

Apparently the Mediterranean sea is rich with natural gas deposits. A few years back there was an effort to tap into those deposits. The project was cancelled when Russian gas prices made the project un - economical. Maybe they will dust off those old plans?

Israel commenced exploration decades ago have had producing gas fields offshore since 2004. I recall reading that relatively recently, Israel went from net importer of LNG for power generation to being self-sufficient. Right now there are several marine seismic surveys planned or progressing in the Mediterranean and the Levant Basin in the eastern Mediterranean is seeing increased oil and gas exploration by Egypt, Turkey and Cyprus. Turkey is also actively surveying in the southern Black Sea at the moment.

A perfect and unavoidable storm: LNG supply crisis will make landfall in winter 2022

By shunning Russian gas, Europe has destabilized the entire global LNG market that began the year with a precarious balance after a tumultuous 2021.

i read that the Mc Donalds got sold and the new owner is just going to do the same, just print new menus without the McDonalds logo. all ingredients are sourced within russia, life expectancy just dropped 4 years. all these companies pulling out are giving russians plenty of business opportunities, ruble just hit a 7 year high so their getting some right bargains. Maccas say they will lose 0ne billion dollars by pulling out, not exactly hurting the Ruskies though is it .
