Ho, ho, readers, speaking of multiple identities.

Source: BBC

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-61831961
A deep-cover Russian spy tried to infiltrate the International Criminal Court (ICC), the security service of the Netherlands says.
The man used the name Viktor Muller Ferreira and pretended to be Brazilian but was refused entry as he arrived to start work in the Netherlands.
Authorities say his real name is Sergey Vladimirovich Cherkasov and he is a spy for the GRU - Russian military intelligence.

My 2 cents worth prediction.

1. Putin dead either by natural causes or killed to remove him from power before the year is up.
2. Russian economy tanks and Ruble ends the year over 120 to a dollar.
3. Again by year end, Russia retreats to pre invasion borders/lines.
4. 1st Qtr 2023 Russia bends and returns Crimea and lands annexed during the 2014 invasion to ease, eliminate sanctions and end the war.
5. 1st Qtr 2023 Baby Putin Crony elected President of Russia. Lead Russian opposition leader either murdered or still in prison.

Followed by a repeat of Putin's 20 year reign with different players.

For such a proud nation, it's citizens just accept being stepped on and used.

Do see a glimmer of hope with Russia's next generation being a little more educated.

We can only hope number 1 comes sooner.
Very much in doubt number 3 will be that soon, but again we can hope.
Don't think we will see number 4 happening any that soon, if at all.

It's taken Putin over twenty years to get Russia where it is now. In the unlikely event of his unnatural demise, there's plenty geriatric heirs apparent can step in short-term to carry on the Russian dream.

Far more worrying though, there's Dmitriy Medvedev who's only 57 and has been Vlad's tag-team partner for most of the latter's climb to the top. Despite the debate on whether he resigned or was sacked as PM by Putin back in 2020, since Ukraine kicked off, he's been making all the right noises that keeps him in the Kremlin fold.

As for "a glimmer of hope with Russia's next generation being a little more educated", I think that must lie in the Russian diaspora, those that live and work outside Russia. The state-controlled internal media and the Russian Orthodox Church have enabled Putin to strangle any hint of opposition. When Alexei Navalny returned after the poisoning attempt and was incarcerated, it was job done as far as stifling home-grown dissent.

Tamada, taking into account majority of Putin completely brainwashed supporters are currently in their 70's-80's and honestly on borrowed time considering the life expectancy of the average Russian (rough life, booze and cigs).

Same goes with the Russian Orthodox Church members.

Totally agree and in a normal world, they are all on borrowed time. My point is that Medvedev's generation and younger have been spoon fed the mantra that, what we see as Russian belligerence, is actually a sort of ingrained, self-redeeming, cultural stoicism to be much lauded, admired and something that the whole world covets. They've normalized thuggery to a point that the man/woman on the street consider it an honor to be treated like dogshit by their own leadership if it serves the enduring myth of Russian greatness.

Putin: Russia will respond if NATO sets up infrastructure in Finland, Sweden.
I presume it will be a special military response.

A Russian general has warned that London will be the first to be nuked in the event of a World War Three outbreak.
In response to this revelation, I would like to ask the general where would his wife go shopping in the future and does he plan on selling his house in Hampstead beforehand.

He's probably right about that. They've just learned that Ukraine has re-armed and re-trained since 2014 so their military intelligence was miles off. Now they've adjusted for the long-haul.

Brilliant! Open two fronts, one on the east and another on the west. I guess Comrade Vorodin was off sick the day they did Hitler in history class?

The Kremlin on Monday announced that Russian authorities would allow all Ukrainians to participate in a fast-track procedure to obtain Russian citizenship—expanding the program that previously applied to citizens in the separatist regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
What about the rest of us? Why don't they offer this to everyone.
