Iran ordered the closure of schools ? I think it's called respect for the 3days of mourning,as for expensive funerals ,how much does it cost to a shroud and a lorry, Muslims don't even have to pay for a hole to be dug as traditionally the family dig the hole. Compare that to the amount spent dropping bush into his hole

It's not really respect when you offer people 3 days of free food and accommodation plus transport to come and attend the funeral. If the dead general was such a revered figure, people would make the pilgrimage to pay their last respects without incentives. Maybe Trump needs to take notes on how to make his next inauguration on the Mall look 'yuge'.

When I was stuck in Saddam's Baghdad pre- Desert Storm, we witnessed the 'starving' Iraqi women and 'babies' being bussed to the British Embassy, handed empty babies milk bottles and placards and led by a cheerleader, rail and shout for CNN and other media to show overseas. After 20 minutes, the cheerleader would stop, the women hand over the paraphernalia of protest, get on the bus with their strangely peaceful 'babies' and truck off to the next pre-arranged protest photo-op. In America, one gets a free red cap and the chance to be chosen to stand behind Trump at his rallies and be seen laughing and giggling at his childish name calling on national TV.

Hmm, Trump got his wish, looks like World War III just kicked off. Iran just launched missiles at 2 United States military bases in Iraq.
Hold on, old chum, I still haven't got down to Clothing Stores to sign out my NBC kit.

All gone quiet since the Iranians shot down the 737, everyone waiting to see what happens next. The old Iranians will look like a right bunch of Prunes if they try hitting the Spams* now.

Well if you think they're done then maybe you should go down now and sign up for that NBC kit.

They are a patient bunch, much moreso than Westerners. I believe it's going to be a long wait game. And if it is true that the Iraqi PM did tell the US to leave Iraq and they don't, the US might be fighting them again also.

Hmm, find it strange that the US administration has given multiple reasons as to why Iran's General Soleimani was assassinated. Let's take a poll.

General Soleimani was assassinated according to the Trump administration for the following reasons. Pick one:
A. He was an imminent threat, nothing specified
B. He orchestrated the attack at the US embassy in Benghazi
C. His past transgressions
D. He was an imminent threat, 4 embassies were "probably" going to be attacked, with the embassy in Benghazi "probably" one of them
E. He was worse and Osama bin laden
F. All of the above
G. None of the above
H. It is Obamas fault
I. Just because

There is this point of view. "Trump, for his part, stood by for months while Iran took increasingly belligerent actions that threatened world oil markets and shipping channels. The president gave a clear warning to Iran that his red line was the loss of American life. Iran crossed that red line, and Trump responded forcefully. There’s a strong chance that the Iranian regime would have pressed forward with more brazen attacks if Trump did not respond. There is still time for things to spiral out of control, but in the wake of Iran’s muted response, it appears that Trump pushed back just hard enough to send a strong message to the Iranians without entangling America in another unwanted war. If that turns out to be the case, people on all sides of this debate owe President Trump a debt of gratitude."

Always thought that Islamic teaching stated that you must be buried within 24 Hours of your last breath. Or was this just another way of showing massive? respect from the ordinary Iranians who probably never even knew the guy existed.

Stood by? Where have you been living? This is never going to be over, he made Soleimani a martyr, the worst thing he could have ever done.

Hmm, find it strange that the POTUS would send North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un a happy birthday greetings. Who's kissing whose ass here? From a wannabe dictator to a dictator.

And there's still 11 months until the US election so unlike the Oscar's lackluster 2019 offerings, with Trump's sycophants building up a good head of... something, the quality of their comic offerings will be simply big, beautiful and perfect.

According to Wikipedia, this is customary, but not a specific requirement.

POTUS is going to invoke "executive privilege" in order to prevent Bolton from testifying at his impeachment trial. For man who is claiming he wants "everybody" to testify, why is he not allowing anyone to do so?

Think you missed a bit of his comment (the bit added with a "sharpie") .... he wants everybody (open sharpie brackets) prepared to lie through their teeth under oath to back up his lies (close sharpie brackets) to testiy

Okay, I think I got it now. Is it something similar to him adding Alabama to be hit by a hurricane when it was never in its path just to prove he was not wrong? 🤪

Breaking news, Defense Secretary Mark Esper states he saw no direct evidence that Iran was planning any attacks on four US embassies as claimed by the POTUS. Is anyone surprised by this revelation?

The defense secretary of the United States saw no evidence of an attack by Iran but still stands behind the POTUS. Is the POTUS going to claim that the defense secretary of the United States was not entitled to this classified information?

The reason the less than effective defense secretary Esper is still standing behind the POTUS is to make sure he doesn't get hit by any large bits of excretia when the inevitable happens.
