They will also do some forensic testing on what marine life is on this , to see if the time line matches up.

Master of the vessel Im working on ( Fugro ) , is also a pilot ( Private ) in Oz and he says the Pilots forums are all saying , its 777 debris, based on their technical knowledge and google searches

Also said that that piece of debris will have part numbers etc and all logged back at Boeing to cross match it to what ever plane it came from.

Few others lost in that area.

Ethiopean Flight 1996 ?

Would expect more algae and barnicles.

CONSPIRACY theorists gone to ground perhaps. But some credibility to the Maldives sightings?

Love to see a map of winds and currents for the last year applied to the find.

3,000 kms from the search area? Crikey. Let's hope this is the plane. A fortune has been spent looking for it.

One media story described the Indian Ocean as a washing machine.

The Australian authorities do have this region in their drift calculations

Oceanographers from the University of Western Australia (UWA) say the location of the newly-discovered aircraft debris is 'entirely consistent' with a graphic they created 12 months ago showing the potential drift patterns of the missing plane.

So it seems the plane might have gone down thousands of kilometres away from where this part was found? Presumably finding a few parts won't help work out what happened that much. At least the wild theories such as it landed in the middle east can be put aside. I still favour the rogue pilot theory although I would need to rethink that if it turned out there was a Minnesotan dentist on the plane.

Based on the size of the plane part found the experts theorize "the jet went into the water in a gliding/ditching attitude, because otherwise this wing component would have likely been completely destroyed"

"Boeing engineers had reverse-engineered the final six hours of the flight, creating the so-called Zombie Flight, surmising that some unknown incident incapacitated the pilots and left the 777 to continue at its cruise height and speed until it eventually ran out of fuel."

I hope for the families of the missing presumed dead passengers that this section is from the missing MAS flight.

It might allow a little closure perhaps.

It's good news the identity of the plane has been confirmed. That scenario might also fit a rogue pilot bringing the plane down Jing Jing? I would have thought the changes in direction rule out the zombie flight theory.

I think you may be a bit confused, socksy. :-k

This thread is about MH370, rather than MH17. :D

An interesting article, nonetheless.

Correct JS. I'm easily confused, for example don't put me in a barrel and tell me to piss in the corner.

There will be fifteen angry wounded 'jocks' on the field at the weekend. The camp are outraged about the suspensions of the two forwards. Beware the wounded animal and don't count the 'Chooks' till they're hatched Barney. Time to get back on the title of the thread.
