Thailand-China Shared Community

Post by Laan Yaa Mo » July 28, 2023, 11:26 am

Does anyone know what a shared community between Thailand and China means? It can't be like the Hong Kong-China shared community, could it?

It is also interesting that this item was stuck in the middle of a story about Thailand returning money a Chinese gang scammed out of Chinese citizens, and the gang fled to Thailand.

Sickening sycophants.

Are they still in power then?

I always thought that when realising the history of SE Asia, founded by Chinese immigrants who walked over the borders 5000 odd years ago , that in fact the empty spaces in Cambodia and Laos are ideal for the expansion albneit sneakily from China .
It weould seem that the strong ties financially as well as family wise between CHINA And Thailanjd will no doubt ion the future ..say 30-50 years will lead to a far larger China than we currently have . Not that any of us will see it . !!!!!!!!!!

Be positive, Khun Paul, you can make it.

The earliest people in Burma were the Pyu:
Pyu
The first human settlers in Myanmar appeared in the central plain some 11,000 years ago1. Little is known of these people except that they were a Paleolithic culture, using stone and fossilized-wood tools that have been labeled Anyathian1. The Pyu were the earliest inhabitants of Burma of whom records are extant

\
The earliest people in what is now Thailand were not Chinese:
Little is known of the earliest inhabitants of what is now Thailand, but 5,000-year-old archaeological sites in the northeastern part of the country are believed to contain the oldest evidence of rice cultivation and bronze casting in Asia and perhaps in the world. In early historical times, a succession of tribal groups controlled what is now Thailand. The Mon and Khmer peoples established powerful kingdoms that included large areas of the country. They absorbed from contact with South Asian peoples religious, social, political, and cultural ideas and institutions that later influenced the development of Thailand's culture and national identity. Not even Kwangtung Province was originally Chinese. It was Tai until the Han pushed them out. Maybe that is why the Thai and Cantonese numerical systems are so similar:
History of Guangzhou

Early period
The earliest known inhabitants of the Guangzhou area were the Baiyue, a Tai, or Shan, people. During the Xi (Western) Zhou dynasty (1146–771 BCE), the local Baiyue people pledged allegiance to the feudal state of Chu to the northeast, giving rise to the name of Chuting for the area. Later, a walled town known as Nanwu Cheng, in the northern section of the present-day city, was built during the Spring and Autumn (Chunqiu) period (770–476 BCE). Between 339 and 329 BCE the town was rebuilt and expanded and was known as Wuyang Cheng (“City of Five Goats”)—named for the legend that gods riding five goats descended from heaven and saved the city from famine.

Mandarin?!? Do you mean to say that my year of torture trying to learn Cantonese and traditional Chinese writing was all for nought?

It's in the bible "from the north came the mandarins and they did slay the non believers and force them to eat Peking duck". Luke 52.7

I forgot about the Good Book. Everything you need to know is answered there. It's even better than google. Keep the faith, brother.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has long term economic plans, out 25+ years. What are they for Thailand? Probably keyed into the completion of the "high speed rail" system that will connect Thailand with the Lao-China rail and on into China. Remember, 95% of the current rail traffic on the Lao-China rail system is freight.. When it extends down our way that will likely be the same.. All the brouhaha about HSR passenger service is just frosting on the cake. Its all about economic connectivity and expansion of business. For us here in Udon, the Potash reserves are there awaiting the investment money to exploit. Wanna bet that exploitation will begin concurrent with opening of the HSR with its heavy freight carrying capability? So, the "shared community" will certainly be there but what share will the Thai have and what will the Chinese have??

That's the rub. It might also mean Confucian schools, Chinese police stations and more and closer connexions at the elite political level.

and like in Laos it might mean thousands of Chinese "businessmen" allowed to work visaless in the country.. I can remember years ago when the Immigration Police raided Bobei Market over near Global House and detained over a hundred illegal Chinse vendors. It was quickly "fixed" after protests by the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok. Today there are still dozens of Chinese vendors, many not speaking a word of Thai selling goods in the market...
