The "new" Jomtien Beach: no vendors, no tourists.

saw a Thai TV news spot on Jomtien. It did whos the beach empty for the most part but the vendors were all up under the palm trees on the street side of the fence. At one end they had all the various jet skis, boats, etc pulled up...

Jomtien Beach is set to continue its expansion project from the current expanded area of Soi 11 towards Dongtan Beach in the near future, according to Mr. Ekarat Sukantharo, Director of the Pattaya Harbor Office.

Ekarat also stated that the finished project will be, in his opinion, comparable to Miami Beach in Florida in the United States.

Miami Beach sucks, South Beach Miami is one of my favourite places. Jontiem is OK, at least it is not Pattaya.
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

Went down to Jomtien/Pattaya for new Years Eve. One day we took a quite long stroll along the Beach in Jomtien and one thing that struck me was the almost total absence of benches or somewhere to sit!?
There was a long bench at the Jomtien Beach monument and some short ones outside the police station and at the mens toilet but beside those absolutely nothing.
Also sidewalks in Jomtien are even worse than in Udon Thani, I will not go back if I can avoid it.
