HMS Richmond in Thailand waters

Post by stattointhailand » July 23, 2021, 8:15 pm

HMS Richmond due in Thai waters 24 July to carry out a maritime military exercise with the Royal Thai Navy. This will be first engagement of the UK Carrier Strike Group with Thailand.

Hope they dont want to dock at Laem Chabang for some R & R or they may be in for a bit of a disappointment =;

Here's the official GOV.UK waffle replete with references to God, Queen and Boris the Great. Please be respectful and upstanding before reading it.

Apparently all part of Johnson's vision of a Global Britain. How peculiar. I thought Johnson led Britain was withdrawing from the world as Johnson and lots of Brits didn't like foreigners.

Blimey, I know the Tories have slashed virtually all budgets, but has HMS Richmond been reduced to an inflatable now?

And they refer to it as "a carrier strike group." Talk about all hat, no cattle. Even the jets are loaners. Pathetic, really.

if you bothered to read the article you'll find that it is an RAF Squadron of F-35B's and one of USMC F-35B's. The RAF is still qualifying pilots for the next delivery of F-35B's which should get both UK Carriers up to strength. Note this is a joint Carrier STrike Group with the UK carrier, UK Destroyers, Dutch frigates and U.S. ships along with support veseels.

Yes reading is a skill not often used by some, this task force has been wandering about now for sometime, upsetting the Chinese next is their aim I think.

"freedom of Navigation" in the South China Sea without doing the mandatory Chinese dictated request to transit.. Then up to Japan for port visits with the Japanese and some more joint exercises with the U.S./UK/Dutch/Japanese navies.. That'll wind up the Chinese just a tad..

^ The winding up is officially under way.

'Obey the rules' Beijing tells UK as Royal Navy enters disputed South China Sea

"They must be bluntly told that if their warships rampantly behave as the US military does in the South China Sea, they will more likely become an example of China defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity - just as a popular Chinese phrase indicates: To execute one as a warning to a hundred."

... Speaking in the Commons on July 6, Mr Raab said he was "very familiar with the routing" of the CSG and had discussed the deployment with his Chinese counterpart, insisting it was being done in a "confident but not confrontational" way."

I would love to see the CSG make a courtesy call at Kaohsiung before turning to starboard and tootling up the Taiwan Straits.

Yep.

Have a look at this from several years ago. You can't be a Cheap Charlie and have a Navy of any consequence.

Interesting times ahead, luckily satellites will show exactly what is happening and when , so hopefully the Chinese will not be able to tell lies .

The Brittles would scamper away post haste at the first sign of any confrontation. They're really just cowards at heart.

That's 2008 for Ashli's sake. That's pre-Obama, no?
