If you post in a New Zealand thread I'll reply to your usual talking points. American history here.

It seems to me, in talking about Raving Nutters, Loonies and the rare intelligent objector, that we are now enjoying the more mobile population which never had to deal with death on a vast scale and its results , like fatherless families, rationing, the personal drive just to survive.

We have become nations of entitled loud mouths who see the only way to change the status quo is to object about anyone and everything and this wonderful electronic age has enabled that

People objecting that their personal freedoms are being eroded, having to have a vaccination, wear a mask etc. Videos daily of so-called in many cases unthinking and rude people demanding things, which 5 years ago, no-one would even dream of asking.

The old saying that the place is going to the DOGS, is ringing true , it is and the vast majority as always of those who are intelligent enough to understand the situation are by their silence empowering the minority who shout, scream and make life unhappy for the rest of us . WHY is all I ask ?????

The essential point is correct. The US has done very poorly in dealing with Covid. Some might say extremely poorly given pre-pandemic the US was rated one of the countries best prepared to handle a pandemic.

There seem to be a lot of raving nutters in the US - I mean a higher percentage of them than in other comparable countries. I wonder if that's always been so.
Where do you get this American "pre-pandemic performance rating" nonsense from? The same place that suggests America has more nutters than all the rest?

No country has come out as a "winner" here. Covid has won.

Countries had been scored and ranked. The UK was also ranked very highly. Look it up.

I think the Trump cult, a huge cult, has seriously damaged and weakened the US. Fox News doesn't help either. Two frontiers in the US are the Courts and Covid. The nutters need to face reality when in front of a judge. Evidence thankfully still matters there. With Covid, vaccinations matter.

To me this is contemporary America:

50 plus years ago it was more this (yes we can argue if there's another more representative image):

Who is that nut job wearing a mask on his chin? CNN has also caused quite a problem along with Fox in the U.S.

Anyway, that is a funny photo.

But, the photo with the three clean shaven guys is more impressive

Yes, I agree with your comment about the photos. The barbers 50 years ago look to have been much better. The country is in decline.

Sorry but how can there be a credible PRE-pandemic league table? How could countries be rated on an event that hadn't happened yet? Maybe you are conflating it with some POST- pandemic "how did we do?" retrospective? In that regard, the UK with probably the worst Covid statistics in Europe, is right up there with America.

I see that Trump still rents too much space in your head.

attempting to use the covid 19 to smear is tacky
enough, but when the info presented isn't even
true? the u.k. has neary 150k deaths and a population slightly over 60 mil . guess what? scale
it up ( x6) and all ratios / percentages the same

as they very nearly are for all countries. excepting
those of course with obvious healthcare shortage
The population of the USA is approx 332 million, not 360 million

Or Donald trumps accountants  , I see they pulled the plug on him.even said don't rely on the last 10 years either. Sounds like accountants trying to cover their assess for sure. Sounds like his credit rating just dropped. I see how this goes, trump blames his executives, the executives blame the accountants, the accountants blame the people in charge of finance, financial office blames the managers, the managers blame office workers, the office workers blame the guy pushing a trolley around handing out mail....so the mail guy ends up doing twenty years in sing sing and everyone goes home happily ever after. Except the mail guy who hangs himself in his cell.
