When Will Australia Grow Up?

Post by jackspratt » September 16, 2020, 8:05 pm

I see that the former British colony of Barbados has seen fit to toss the British crown aside. =D>
Barbados has announced its intention to remove Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state and become a republic.

The Caribbean nation gained independence from Britain in 1966 and has since maintained a formal link with the monarchy.

"The time has come to fully leave our colonial past behind," said Barbados Governor-General Sandra Mason, delivering a speech on behalf of the country's Prime Minister, Mia Mottley.

The time is well overdue for Australia to do the same.

And what does the Queen have a hold on Australia with???
Why or what be the benefit be of saying by by?

Typical response from a FOLLOWER "Oh we should dump the Queen , why because Barbados has done it"

This is the same attitude when some organization/person says we are going to do this and another says I am going to do that also Examples are I am going to open a coffee shop in town, why because so and so did

Big difference between Barbados & Rooland Jack

In Barbados they drink "afternoon tea" and their National sport is cricket dont you know

In Oz they drink frozen pisswater and are sh*te at cricket

Barbados has "grown up" into a well mannered culturally sound adult whereas Australia is still in it's teenage tantrum stage

For all its shortcomings, statto, Australia discovered many years ago the benefits of regular bathing, with soap.

Hopefully the Poms will follow suit within a decade or two of exiting Europe - if and when that happens. ;)

However, Australians can stand proud that they have a nicer flag than the Bajans.

Perhaps when Queen Elizabeth dies, there will be more enthusiasm for an Australian head of state.

Steady on. They don't all take to a cricket ball with sandpaper or join illegal protests against social distancing rules.

The British K i n g formerly known as Prince still cherishes memories of wombat fondling and playing hide the saveloy with Bruce during his brief stint at Treetops. For that reason alone, he will easily remain a barb in the tortured Aussie soul long after his mum shuffles of this mortal coil.

I don't see the Aussie soul as tortured. I see it more as flippant:

I think Australia is fine, they are all grown up their own National Anthem, they fought in the last two World wars, losing thousands for freedom , speak reasonably good English , the only thing they still have isd the Queen nas head of state, which according to many accountants is cheaper than having a home grown one and then pay a pension for the rest of their lives, no expensive elections to find one and probably terrified looking at the US of A , as they may get a Moron like they have .

Plus they can do what we English cannot , Apepal to the House of Lords in certain cases. so they have a free Appeals Court , never seen it used but it is on the statute book I am assured`.

The English have an avenue for appeals it is called the Court of Appeal UK
"The Court of Appeal is the highest court within the Senior Courts of England and Wales, and deals only with appeals from other courts or tribunals. It is divided into two Divisions, criminal and civil, and is based at the Royal Courts of Justice in London."

The British House of Lords currently serves as the Court of Last Resort for many (but not all) appeals in the United Kingdom. It hears most cases on appeal, but the process is bit more complicated than it is for most national supreme courts.

If you consult the following article, you should gain a pretty good understanding of the types of cases the body hears (and doesn't hear). Please note that under recent constitutional reforms, the judicial functions of the House of Lords will soon pass to a separate national supreme court.

Back on topic ..."Everybruce: Australia, Australia, Australia, Australia, we love you amen!

Fourth Bruce: Another tube! (Sound of cans opening) Any questions?

Second Bruce: New-Bruce, are you a Poofta?

Fourth Bruce: Are you a Poofta?

Michael: No!

Fourth Bruce: No. Right, I just want to remind you of the faculty rules: Rule One!

Everybruce: No Pooftas!

Fourth Bruce: Rule Two, no member of the faculty is to maltreat the Abbos in any way at all -- if there's anybody watching...... Rule Three?

Everybruce: No Pooftas!!

Fourth Bruce: Rule Four, now this term, I don't want to catch anybody not drinking..... Rule Five,

Everybruce: No Pooftas!

Fourth Bruce: Rule Six, there is NO ... Rule Six!... Rule Seven,

Everybruce: No Pooftas!!

Fourth Bruce: Right, that concludes the readin' of the rules, Bruce.

First Bruce: This here's the wattle, the emblem of our land. You can stick it in a bottle, you can hold it in your hand.

Everybruce: Amen! "

Who has assured you, KP?

Better get back to them and put them right.

It has not been the case since 1986 that Australian law can be appealed to the UK Privy Council (not the House of Lords).

Just for Jack the cricket bit of the sketch

"Fourth Bruce: Crack tubes! (Sound of cans opening) Now I call upon Bruce to officially welcome Mr. Baldwin to the philosophy faculty.

Second Bruce: I'd like to welcome the pommey bastard to God's own Earth, and remind him that we don't like stuck-up sticky-beaks here.

Everybruce: Hear, hear! Well spoken, Bruce!

Fourth Bruce: Bruce here teaches classical philosophy, Bruce there teaches Haegelian philosophy, and Bruce here teaches logical positivism, and is also in charge of the sheep dip.

Third Bruce: What's New-Bruce going to teach?

Fourth Bruce: New-Bruce will be teaching political science, Machiavelli, Bentham, Locke, Hobbes, Sutcliffe, Bradman, Lindwall, Miller, Hassett, and Benet.

Second Bruce: Those are all cricketers!

Fourth Bruce: Aww, spit! "
