ACS Outreach 2018 Schedule

Post by Mosquito » January 12, 2018, 7:29 pm

Also, from my limited experience the biggest problem was not following the info below:
not accepting cash/baht anymore:

All Bank Drafts must be:

Purchased from Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank, or Siam Commercial Bank (SCB).
You do not need an account at the bank to purchase a bank draft.
Kasikorn Bank calls a “bank draft” a “Bill of Exchange.”
Purchased in advance.
Made out to “American Embassy Bangkok”
In the exact amount of Thai Baht (THB) for your total service.
At the official embassy exchange rate at the time of the outreach.
Fees and exchange rates will be included in individual outreach announcements and posted on our website.

2nd/3rd problems was drafts not being specifically made out to "American Embassy Bangkok" and for the exact amount in baht required.

Move to Nong Khai. They don't accept silly Embassy affidavits. It's like a special "Laws-Don't-Apply-Here" zone. I think the Tourism Authority of Nong Khai should begin a campaign to attract tourism: Our filthy farang visitors are WAY better than Udon and Loei's filthy farang visitors.

And we can prove it!

Amazing Thailand.

Re: ACS Outreach-Bank Draft Amount?

Sure would like to get a definitive amount for the bank draft.
Some people say I should use the calculation: 34 baht to the dollar which would make the amount of the bank draft: 1700THB,
Some say it it is 35 to the dollar which would make the amount of the draft: 1750THB.

Yes! I have looked on the website...it’s not there, or I’m looking in the wrong place. Most probably, the latter.

Thanks in advance. :D

Follow up ... as of today, they are publicizing 34 baht to 1 USD for consular services in general, but they also say that more specific information regarding rate will be released with other details regarding location etc. of the visit in each particular city. Currently, there is no link to details for Udon Thani on 7 March.

Thanks i'm planning on this time around to use this. Have no idea what would happen if you used the wrong rate. My best guess is they won't accept it if is wrong

You're welcome.

I'll continue to go to the Chiang Mai Consulate and get mine done. Three day holiday and takes all of 30 minutes to do by appointment. No lines of people to wait. No sign-in list that disappears and reappears. I greatly appreciate the effort that the embassy makes to travel to cities to help expats. Great service, but I found an easier and more enjoyable way.

I also, greatly appreciate ACS’s service in coming to Udon.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve been told: “No appointment necessary.
Pay in cash: THB or $’s.”
At the C.M. Consulate.

Plus great Mexican Food from Miquel’s.

Everything indicated that an appointment is necessary at the Consulate. I didn't see anything that waived that. Same with payment. I saw nothing to waive that either.

I enjoy Loco Elvis for my Mexican food. :)

Verified this morning. The Consulate takes cash or credit cards. Bank drafts only necessary at Outreach events.

Never asked about appointments. I always make one to be sure. :)

I've never used a bank letter to show a bank balance for income to Thai immigration, but that doesn't have anything to do with presenting the income form to the embassy for notarization.

Who, if anyone, worries about off-topic in this place?
Image

The perks of going to the Consulate in ChM far outweigh hoping that the Embassy Outreach visit gets to me in time to have my income letter notarized within 6 months of renewal. Get a nice 3-4 day vaca out of it and no hassles with bank drafts, a sign-in list, etc. I show up at my appointment time. 15 minutes. Done deal.

Just a reminder the income affidavit can be filled in and printed online. Bring this copy to the Outreach meeting to be signed in the presence of the Vice Consul.

Early sign-in sheets will be there at 11am for those who need to get in early.
