Where's This Restaurant?

Post by Asiaphile » August 11, 2008, 8:32 pm

A Thai girl invited me for dinner at a restaurant near Charoensi Palace Hotel/Tungsi Muang.
The food wasn’t bad at all so I tried to go back a few days later but I couldn’t find it.
It’s a two-storeyed building on a corner. It was quite busy (many falangs too) and there were plenty of waiters. I also remember that they’d put kaffir lime (ma krut) in the urinals.
I’m not talking about the one across Little Rock Disco.
Your obvious remark would probably be ‘Why don’t you call the girl to give you the name/location?' Well, the answer is simple. I don’t want to meet her again because although I told her that I don’t want a steady relationship, she wants to stick to me like a leech. :(

Hi Asiaphile,
I am thinking of a restaurant of (as I believe) Chinese owners. I've been there more than once, but I forgot the name. I will ask my wife tonight. The restaurant I mean has a bookstore on the other corner of the street. Has small benches instead of chairs and indeed a lot of waiters. The restaurant I mean has a very good reputation in the neighbourhood and is there already for over 30 years. We always go there from SriChomCheun Road and it is only minutes away. At least it must be near the place you mean and if we're lucky it is the one. Will let you know the name tonight.

Meh Yah =D> =D> =D> ! 042-223-889.

IMO. The #1 Thai restaurant in Udon for overall great service, food, and reasonable price. In the 2 3/4 years I have frequented the place, I have never been disappointed.
Plus, they give you complimentary water. :D Their ice cream confections and ice cream cakes are great. A large selection of Thai deserts.

I have not had, however I have been told that their Western food is decent.

can't leave without a banana split, mere 40 baht. ok, sometimes just a special trip for banana split. also get my masaman fix there. use to be a weekly stop, slacked off a bit, now getting there more often again. might be the heat and the banana splits.

For an excellent dessert you can also walk 20 meters outside and have delicious sticky rice with mango and coconutmilk, hmmmmmm (when the mangos are available ofcourse).
