Re: Icy cold beer
In real BEER ...NO, but here they do not sell Real Beer only pretend therefore it does not matter, Any Lager/ Lite Beer is not a Beer in the true sense of the word in my book
Re: Icy cold beer
I know very little about beer or putting ice in beer but I'd think that ice cubes made with beer might be better than ice cubes made with water. There is probably a good reason why this idea is completely wrong.

Re: Icy cold beer
Beer that has been frozen never tastes the same once it is thawed - to me at least.
Re: Icy cold beer
Depends on the beer;
Larger - Yes
Bitter or Stout - No
I actually enjoy a large Change poured over ice when it's hot outside. Although given the choice I'd have a super cold small can of beer and drink it quick enough so it never gets warm (then repeat until they have all gone )
All this talk of beer is making me thirsty

Here's a question about Beer, who buys all the out of date Beer in Udon Thani and who drinks it?
He's got his little y-fronts and he's got his little vest, Chaz Jankel, 1998. Mash it up Harry.

Not sure about Oodorn but certain wholesalers in Pattaya buy back the expired piss and either try and offload it on the smaller bars that don't notice or the big seafood buffet restaurants as the Chinese and don't notice either. Some dives also knowingly buy it as it's cheap but mix it with fresh full-price stock, again because most punters won't notice or make a fuss.BillaRickaDickay wrote: ↑June 28, 2022, 7:19 pmHere's a question about Beer, who buys all the out of date Beer in Udon Thani and who drinks it?
I was served an 11 month old beer down Soi Sampan a few years back. Politely pointed it out and they went and checked and all of that particular beer was old. Gave me another brand and didn't charge for the bad one. All apologetic and no drama.

Re: Icy cold beer
The reason I ask, I didn't realize canned and bottled beer has such a short shelf life, Heineken 6 months from the date stamped on the Tin/Bottle.
If buying beers while on the move, as I did a few months back, best to check the dates or buy from a 7/11 or similar, I bought my cans from a Mom and Pop shop, 9 months past their sell by date.
It obviously raises the question about what we are drinking in some of the bars we frequent. I've had a few different tasting ones over the years but never thought it was down to being out of date.

That well known Tim Martin outlet wet her spoons is renowned for selling short date beer in small amounts (Its how they keep prices down). It has been known for certain vendors in Udon to have special buy two get one free or even half price offers on short dated beer over the years

Re: Icy cold beer
I arrived into South Australia 2 weeks ago to find 25 out of a 30 can "Block" of Castlemaine 4XXXX in the wardrobe/bedroom I keep here. I bought it in Nov 2019, so it's been through 3 x 40+ deg summers and 2 x 4 deg winters.BillaRickaDickay wrote: ↑June 28, 2022, 9:14 pmThe reason I ask, I didn't realize canned and bottled beer has such a short shelf life, Heineken 6 months from the date stamped on the Tin/Bottle.
.........................
Threw a few into the fridge and taste tested, no difference as compared to newly purchased 4XXXX - finished up consuming the whole lot - NO ICE! Too bloody cold here anyway.
Sent from my 1977 Apple II using 2 Heinz bake bean cans and piano wire!

Maybe it's down to the brand, I usually drink Heineken and Leo when I'm over here.
