Im wondering if the opening of the Nong Khai Wine House that day took the key staff away for the opening crowd pictures etc ????

Sadly Thailand still doesnt get the order of delivery for the meals for expat food, not like Thais where all the food just comes out and self serve at the table etc,

I get the impression its cooked some times in the order of ease or quickest, with no thought about how the meal should be appreciated.....and how the meal should be served so all at the table are eating at the same time.

No excuses on the wine debacle to be honest, I would say not even normal staff for that.....

How did they fit the ice into the glass LOL

I missed on dush which was spaghetti Bol. 220 baht. I have listed full price however Sunday is 30% most dishes. I'll post desert pics later

Pomps.
You post more pictures of food at different Restaurants than anyone on Udon Map.
The above pictures also show the price.
Could you please put the price of the meal you have had as it would be very helpful to other members.
They can see the portions & the price.
Obviously the more upper market the Restaurant the higher the price.

I am not talking about The Wine house.
You eat in more different places in Udon than anyone I know & post pictures.
It would be nice if you posted prices with all the pictures you put on Udon Map.
That will give members a chance to compare prices with size of portions .
You post the pictures why not the prices.
Obviously quality is a personal taste as some people will like a certain meal (eg Curry) some will not.

Just a point here, perhaps some local business that sponsor might not like their food pictures published, preferring their own marketing strategy ?

There is a difference between sharing a food experience and offering a food critique post.

Have been posting pictures for ages without hardly mentioning prices,your first query started when i posted on pp restaurant thread,do you eat then at a local restaurant nearby,maybe los amigos,as never used to post prices there and never a complaint by you then.
Will try my hardest to post prices from now,am due to go dose soon and have kindly posted their menu on their thread to give forumites an idea of prices but if it is easier will try the Grevious way

You have set the bar high when it comes to reviews of eateries around Udon Pomps. I have only posted prices this time as I thought to take a picture of the menu, otherwise I would have forgot the cost.
I didn't note the dessert prices though.

The issue on prices can also be clouded a little, as menus don't reflect the discounts that various places are offering , and not to all the menu etc.

My advice, if you like the food and beverage at an establishment , then venture

One thing I have appreciated at various restaurants is the ability to bring your own wine, and pay the service charge / opening fee ( Not all bottles have corks now , lol )

Many of the places around Udon are selling wines that aren't up to scratch for the prices charges. Most major labels from Australia aren't available ( my experience ) . Siam Wines seem to supply the wine chillers and only their wines supplied.

Buy your favourite wine in Lotus, Villa, Wine Connection or if you go to Lao, even better with 30% off or more etc and take it with you, ( pre chilled reds and whites ) pay the 300 baht fee and enjoy.

IIRC, there's a 200% import duty on wine. That would certainly contribute to the feeling that they're not up to scratch for the prices charged. I try to compare wines wtih other wines in the same category within Thailand, apples to apples, so to speak.

The UM staff tells me that the banana and coconut thingy is กล้วยบวชชี.

That may be the case OT .... you still blew me out in Doha .. you don't know what it's like sitting there night after night in Admirals, supping on overpriced draught beer waiting for friends ..

Mixed satay finally on the menu today 180 baht,beef lasagna enjoyable 250 baht,wanted more,think weight about 250g

No feta cheese available so did not order the greek salad

Usual 30% off final food bill

Blimey sorry I had forgot about that, I can make it on a Thursday night if you are still around. OT lives in the slum by the Rugby Club so its a bit of a trip to admirals. As for the price of beer, nothing wrong in paying Bt 450-550 a pint.

This Wine House thread is a clear demonstration that there are lots of expats living in Udon that are not bothered about the price and are more interested in the quality. If they charged Bt500 for a draft pint in TWH it would make the food look cheap so people wouldn't expect so much.

Popped in yesterday for lunch,Winehouse yum salmon 190 baht,mixed satay 180 baht and baked mussels 150 baht for starters.easy filling and tasty dishes before the main course

Excellent greek salad,deep bowl and a meal in itself 180 baht,wagyu tenderloin also good 680 baht but the seafood bucket was the most filling and given the customary lime water to wash your hands after $\:D/$

Speciality Seafood bucket with canadian lobster is 3500 but 20% discount applicable to it,consisted of 4 mussels,2 crab spinners.2 tiger prawns,canadian lobster and 2 rock lobsters or also known as morton bay bugs

If choosing seafood bucket with squid and without the canadian lobster then the price is 2500 but 20% discount applicable to it.
Update re corkage fee is 300 baht

As always over the weekend ,30% discount on all items from the menu so apply discounts to my menu items above

but forget the price.

Was helped to devour the food by one other person,way too much for me alone although I was reminded later that I had afterwards a further dessert of a scotch egg and spc oz beans at another location
