Save MS-Word from PC to Web?
If my son is stuck behind a work PC in Blighty...
...that will NOT let him save anything to C: or D:,...
...can he SAVE documents online (to the Web) for free, please?
If YES, please post a link to WHERE, thanks.

Create a free Dropbox account. I’ve been using it successfully for years. I think the basic free version is about 2gb of storage. You used to be able to earn more storage if needed by “inviting friends” to join on lots of disposable email addresses

If you have a gmail or outlook account both offer FREE cloud storage, similar to Dropbox, the advantage of using the cloud storage provided by your mail account is that you stay within one ecosystem.

I doubt that will work. At my workplace the only possibility to take files out of the company was an encrypted USB stick...

the-monk; Gmail requires a (Google Drive) download, which my son canNOT do.
Can you recommend a FREE service that doesNOT require a download, please?
Re: Save MS-Word from PC to Web?
I think he might be screwed as you’ve just said he cannot download on another post & most cloud storage options I know of require a desktop app to access & the file to be saved somewhere first.fredwilliams wrote: ↑March 11, 2019, 10:04 pmNiggly; once signed into Dropbox, what should my son do in Word to save a document (to Dropbox), please?Niggly wrote: ↑March 11, 2019, 8:48 pmCreate a free Dropbox account. Can he click File, Share as Attachment & email to himself? You don’t need to save it first to use this option. Once the email is out of the company he should be able to save the file wherever he wants

Re: Save MS-Word from PC to Web?
Let's backtrack for a minute so we can fully understand the problem's scope. What are we trying to achieve ?
Your son cannot, is not allowed to, save word document on drives c or d.... Why ?
Can you son save word docs in the cloud storage ? Will your son be allowed to save in cloud storage ?
What the reason to save the word doc in cloud storage ? Just storage to have a safe copy ?
OR to save it for future editing ?
Most cloud storage services operate in a very similar fashion. Which email service are you using ? (gmail, outlook ??? )
I hope it helps with a better understanding of the situation.

So far it looks as if your son maybe trying to do something with his work computer that his employer does not want him to do.fredwilliams wrote: ↑March 11, 2019, 7:26 pmIf my son is stuck behind a work PC in Blighty...

If he is successful, and the IT department will be doing everything they can to stop him, that is probably grounds for instant dismissal from his job. They would have at least 2 or more reasons for firing him.
So the best advice is using a computer at home then the problem goes away

If a word doc or docx comes through my email at outlook, I simply right click and a drop down appears with "Preview or Download or Save to One Drive".
