Anyone planning a quick in-out at Udon Immigration TODAY 28th May... forget about it! Hundreds of Asians doing their extensions before end of month. I just wanted a Re-entry permit but was told twice that joining the queue was the only option.

Then it started raining so I'll do it at the airport on departure instead.
Yesterday that ushered me through ahead of the hordes. 90 day reporting in and out in 3 minutes

I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

It was a mad house yesterday (27th) as well. Somehow I got lucky and got my 1 year extension completed (under consideration ended yesterday) and they also gave me a new 90 day period. Didn't even go inside. All took 10 minutes waiting outside. No parking whatsoever anywhere!

Severely pissed off that I had to pay a 12K fine as my money in the bank had fallen below 400K for a month not 300K as I was led to believe but 400K. I am sure the IO last year confirmed it was/is necessary to maintain a minimum of 300K but seems it is now 400K.
It has never been 300k if that’s the number you were told the IO made a mistake it changed in January 2019 to require a minimum all year amount.

My stupid fault for not checking but below 400K last year and not a word said, but how can someone who's extension is based on income (65K/month) not need 400K in an account for the whole year.TIT is suppose. Question was what is the requirements for an extension based on marriage to a Thai national.

You are confusing retirement and marriage requirements

Marriage is 400k for 2 months before application only

unless and only unless immigration requires you to return during the under consideration period and prove funds.

Nothing after, until 2 months before your next application.

It’s helpful if you don’t post the same, or almost the same, question at the same time in multiple threads.

A single person supporting himself is required 800.
A married couple supporting at least two require half that amount.

It's a Thai thing, westerners can't possibly grasp the mystic obscurity.

It makes perfect sense. More money is needed to support two people, therefore less is required to stay in the bank account.

Absolutely not. If you're trying to live on 400,000 baht a year, or even 800,000 baht a year, you're living very frugal.

That's just money that has to stay in the account for a certain period of time during the year.

i agree but the Immo allowance for alien spending throughout the year is based on 400k being deemed sufficient .. so it was explained to me by a friend who is an IO.

retirement 800k down to 400k .
marriage 400k to zero back to 400.

Just a theory - perhaps Immo understands that a married guy doesn't need to spend a lot on "extra curricula".

If you know what I mean.

Pleased iv always has a very bad allergic reaction to the handles on gold n diamond shop doors ..so much so its just to dangerous to go anywhere near one .

I never really thought about tge difference in amounts required in the bank fir different visas ..retirement mariage or dependancy

They are two completely different types of visas with different requirements. And just because you're married doesn't mean you're retired.

Never said as such ..as far as i know there are visas below with differing requirements .. maybe more ..dunno

Retirement
Marriage
Non imm O Dependancy
Non B business
Student

My point is immo.must base there monetary requirements on a figure as being sufficient to live IN THEIR OPINION .. im assuming that to be 400k pcy
