Extranet is back up & running.

Seems to be a few teething problems with people who have had to do their reports by some other method or renewed their extensions while it was down but it’s a start
Thanks for the heads up
It’s just worked perfectly for me “pending” now

Thanks Jerome. Had you done any walk-in or postal reports in the interim? Seems like they've maybe just turned it back on to address a possible flood of early walk-in's and postal delays without fixing the holes in their data capturing?

The walk-in reporting rules are 14 before and 7 after due date but I recall the online availability had different before/after dates. Anyone remember? I don't want to try too early and get an error message or screw the option of doing it within the correct time frames.

Cheers noos. In hindsight, it was a window of not more than 14 before and not less than 10 before for online... or something like that. But that may have been years ago on a different version and one of the few times I needed to do it.

It is 15 days before, any time in those days. But no days after, almost the same as in person reporting.

Up to about a year ago there was a cutoff at 7 days before but that was taken away, possibly because of the Covid-19 problems.

The only effect trying too early has is getting a “report to immigration” message, it’s the same one you get if you get something different from their record in the database. You can just keep trying until you are successful, there is no lockout

You are the man I need to talk to about this.

After you arrived on your Visa exempt entry, how long after did you apply to convert to the 90-day Non O Visa and were you able to do that at the immigration office or did you have to do that at the embassy? And what documents were required, if any?

Did you do the one year Non O or the Non OA Visa based on retirement? And what were the documents for that besides the bank statement and proof of insurance for the Non OA Visa?

I have read various websites and of course they differ slightly on the requirements.

The reason for different websites having different information varies from old out of date information to the point that not every office has the same requirements as every other office.

You can not get a Non-OA visa in Thailand. They are only available from the Thai embassy in your home country or country of permanent residence (you are not resident in Thailand) Also, There is no Thai embassy in Thailand.

You can only get a single entry Non-O visa in Thailand from immigration. You must have at least 15 days remaining on your permission to stay on the day you apply.

It is perfectly possible that Udon immigration may not require that your 800,000 Baht comes from overseas.

The first response from stww is what you need to follow and take notes from. Your arrival will hopefully be in more normal times whereas my extended stay benefited from at least three 'Covid extensions'. When the official word on the extension of these became more difficult to find, I bit the bullet and filed the paperwork, including proof of funds, needed to secure the Ret Ext.

However, if Covid hadn't broken out, I would have filed for the 90-day single Non-O with a couple of weeks remaining on my 30-day non-exempt entry. Then applied for the 1-year Ret Ext when all the ducks were seasoned and in a row.

I've come to the realization that I'm probably not going to get there until April or May next year. I may just say screw it and get the 20-year Elite Visa for 1 million baht. Won't have to worry about the 800,000 baht in the bank, border runs, or the health insurance, all I'll have to do is the 90-day reporting and renew every 5 years. I don't know, still have plenty of time to think about my options.

Or you could just stay there in Houston. They need you.

My mate, who lived here for a couple of years maybe 20 years ago, was an annual holiday visitor for many years. He had a plan for a 3 month break here over the festive season. Covid has kicked that into into touch and he too is looking at 'low season' 2022.

Once you get here and hang out for a while, you may appreciate the value of 'getting out more' and visiting another country. Although I have had extensions of one sort or the other for maybe 10 years already, I think I have only have run the 90-day report gauntlet four times as work call-outs kept me busy. I used to live in Pattaya and would escape to Udon for a reality check. Once we relocated to udon, I would escape to Pattaya for the same reason. To keep this whole 'I love Thailand' malaise contained, I would leave the place at least 4 times a year... for a a reality check.

Thanks to the pandemic, I am now 13 months past due on ANY reality checks!

Trust me, I appreciate what you're saying because I bore pretty easily. Having the freedom to be a nomad and see some of the countries that I have not had the opportunity to go to, and other parts of Thailand that I have not seen, it will be pretty liberating. Thailand will be my home hopefully, and I hope to do this before some young Thai girl sinks her claws into me.... LOL

I tried the site on Friday. Still not working. After inputting the info, I was directed to contact the local immigration office. I will make the 2-hour drive on Monday for the 90-day report.
