Oh absolutely, I'm not claiming you ever said anything about that, just the way I look at it. But the way I look at it it's not an income requirement, it's just the amount that needs to be in the bank account at certain points of time during the year. I could not, or would not, go there and try to live off of 400,000 baht a year, or even 800,000 baht.

Just saw this on another site
"ALL THAI IMMIGRATIONS OFFICES IN THE COUNTRY WILL BE CLOSED ON THURSDAY JUNE 3.
THEY WILL BE OPEN ON FRIDAY THE 4TH LIKE NORMAL.
It is Her Majesty the Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana's birthday."

Never said as such ..as far as i know there are visas below with differing requirements .. maybe more ..dunno

Retirement
Marriage
Non imm O Dependancy
Non B business
Student

My point is immo.must base there monetary requirements on a figure as being sufficient to live IN THEIR OPINION .. im assuming that to be 400k pcy

Dm.
50 years old is the minimum age for a retirement visa. In my opinion, immigration's reasoning for the 800k requirement is to cover out of pocket medical care in addition to everyday living. However, anyone over 50 and married can get around the requirement if they don't mind the extra paperwork involved with the marriage visa and extensions.

I'm at a loss why any Udon expat sees 90 day reports as a chore. It's sort of like VAT......it's the price you pay to live here.....and of all the places that talk about 90 day reports, it seems Udon is about the easiest......for the past decade.....or more.

Since 2 years ago, Phuket Town immigration now has a drive up window for 90 day reports.

Car or motorbike ok. I've seen people try on foot, they are rejected for safety reasons.

With the online process working 50% of the time then failing that sending via EMS mail (32 Baht + a 10 Baht Stamp for receipt) is easy and one does not miss many minutes of football.

While I can understand the good public policy reasons behind VAT, I am struggling to understand the same for 90 day reporting.

No requirement is too unreasonable for those whose purpose in life is daily affirmation to justify living here.

If they demanded farangs serve one day a week serving tea and providing foot massages to the immigration staff, some here would point out that, "Shucks, it's only one day a week."

I was there yesterday ,,, really busy, had one person in front of me for 90 day report ..... then exit/re-entry visa no queue, but 3 people sitting around. Total time 20 minutes (mostly for the IO to stamp the forms 20 times with various rubber stamps, which she had to find).

My experience today:
Got my bank letter in the AM from SCB (on the spot, 200 Baht). Had lunch, then drove by immigration at 1:15, intending to go in. But the outdoor waiting area was full, so I did some errands and returned at 2. Still busy, 12 people ahead of me. Had to wait outdoors. Called in at 4 and out by 4:30. My paperwork included a copy of my pink ID, but the agent asked for my yellow book (never asked for that before). Luckily, I had it with me.
Extension, reentry, 90day check done done done.
Good news........at least it wasn't raining while waiting outdoors.
I'm wondering if the place was busier than normal because of the Friday/Monday holiday.......thought the backlog would be done by Thursday.
Anyway, good for another year.

Has anyone recently gone back to Udon immigration during the "under consideration" period for their final marriage extension stamp? Wondering if they are backed up as I'm due to return to immigration on May 27. Really can't afford to wait any longer than the 30 day period. Thanks

It isn’t Udon that decides on the under consideration, but region 4 HQ in Khon Kaen, however you have an under consideration number and a phone call to Udon immigration will get an answer as to if it is back or not. You may even get an answer about the expected date that it will be back.

They can answer in English though it may (or may not) be easier if your wife talks to them, that will depend on your wife’s willingness to talk to officials. Last year I made a call, it was back on time.

STWW, are you trying to say that it could come back sooner and/or later than the stamped date, in which case it might be a good idea to call first before going. I'd hate to go there on the stamped date only to discover that it isn't finished yet.

I'm pretty sure last year I went in a few days early, and my approval was waiting for me, and processed.

If you are already living in Udon (which I am not) no harm in trying.
