Phayao house build
Re: Phayao house build
I'm interested, just haven't had anything to say or ask just yet
May the bridges I burn light the path in front of me
Re: Phayao house build
Alan,
Don't be negative.
You have not got much happening yet, but don't worry, there are plenty watching.
Just a word of advice.
In my house build, "Micks house build", we drilled to 30m and got water, then the driller pissed off.
Missus got home from work and spoke to mum.
Got them back next day to go down 15m more to allow for seasonal fluctuations.
No extra cost.
Talk to your girl about this.
The locals know best.

Things will heat up once you start the build proper.

A like or a hate just to show people are alive would have been enough
It takes time and effort to upload pics and details so just wanted to check if I was wasting my time.

Had a major job to get the pile driver onto the site but fair play to the driver he was awesome.
Earned himself a bottle of whiskey but only allowed to drink it after he hit the truck on site

Please keep pictures coming, Alan. Always interesting for us who have built our house or are planning to do it. Are the pillars 15x15 or 20x20? I cannot see which is in and out at your septic tank. Perhaps the close pipe is from the toilet? If so is there a 90 deg or 2x45deg connection? With the latter the risk of getting a blockage is smaller.

I'm might have skimmed past it on the thread but how are you organising the build? Is it a contractor or are you doing it yourself with local labour?

Re: Phayao house build
why have the word (septic) re. tank been censored?

The pipe at the top of the tank running from the left is from a temporary site toilet.
That will be moved to the right for the real toilet plumbing.
It will have 2 x 45 deg connection.
There will also be two access points to the pipes from different sections to allow for a pipe rat to clean it out if there is a blockage.

I am using a really good Falang builder/structural engineer with a thai crew.Nigglyb wrote:I'm might have skimmed past it on the thread but how are you organising the build? Is it a contractor or are you doing it yourself with local labour?
I followed his previous build for a month and talked to a few of his clients before hiring him and so far so good.
I am on site every day but don't really need to be.
I drew the original design and he has tweaked it and given me extra space and a few upgrades.
My father in law came up with the dual well idea so we have no need for town water which is not great anyway so we save money on that long term.
The builder has built all over Thailand.
He does all construction including swimming pools, perimeter walls etc.

Phayao house build
It's funny, every village leader and businessman for miles around are out viewing every day. They have never seen anyone using piles driven into the ground before and think the whole build is fascinating .
I don't think they have seen anyone use the measuring and levelling tools we are using either.
Slightly worried for the 2 Falangs that had thai companies build there houses before we got here

Alan
I was a bit worried that my builders were using water levels on my build so i brought in a guy who had and could use "modern levelling equipment" Loe and behold the modern levelling equipment versus the water levels were within 2% of each other. His final statement was "Water is probably more accurate, this level has not been calibrated for nearly 2 years" Should have known, The Pyramids, The Great wall of China and the rest of the 7 Wonders of the World.

I know thai builders that use water levels that are clearly broken. You take your chances I suppose.
2% is a huge difference when building a straight wall.
My guys is calibrated regularly so I will stick with that

Good to see nice dry cool weather for building activities. Makes the boys less thirsty for a Leo break.
