Bangla Road Fire

Post by mak » August 14, 2022, 11:05 am

"Firefighters reported the cause of fire started from sparks from a high voltage electric cable above the bar."
You think?
"So, the short on the powerline 100 meters away from Heroes towards the beach that resulted in a fire on our roof, that subsequently burned our electric circuit was a right royal pain in the bum." Heroes Bar.

Pattaya Second Rd. A transformer explodes (as they do) and sets fire to the awnings over Tim's Beer Bar that fronts their gogo bar. The fire spreads (as they do). Due to the vagaries of PEA's wiring, the gogo bar power was uninterrupted and, because of the loud music and the curtains screening the gogo entrance from the beer bar, nobody inside was aware of the drama unfolding just a few meters away. More tellingly, nobody bothered to come inside and raise the alarm. Thus we never found out if there's a fire exit and only became aware of the "small problem" as we left and had to wade through the water and step over the fire hoses and burnt lounge chairs outside.

Stay safe out there (or just stay home).
